Now Rose and Berna walking a fair pig in boots and cuteness 6 years ago... looks like grandma got to do little girls' hair - which is my greatest JOY after having 4 girls "and then you had that boy."
Speaking of that boy, John... he is Godfather to Ruth and Paul's son, David Lawrence, and with his birthday last week while he was at Celebrate You Camp. John is taking him out to celebrate this afternoon with lunch at a restaurant, movie, go-carts - "It will be a big afternoon for me to give David some special time. Gifts are great, but special times sharing with each other is a good way to show Dave that he is loved by me." says John.
Today is the feast day of St Lawrence of Brindisi(1619), and that is the middle name given David after Paul's dad. I am loving how St Lawrence spoke today about the Word of God being the seed planted to bear 100 fold! The Gospel today from Matthew 13 - the sower and the seed begins!
On that day, Jesus went out of the house and sat down by the sea.
Such large crowds gathered around him
that he got into a boat and sat down,
and the whole crowd stood along the shore.
And he spoke to them at length in parables, saying:
“A sower went out to sow.
And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path,
and birds came and ate it up.
Some fell on rocky ground, where it had little soil.
It sprang up at once because the soil was not deep,
and when the sun rose it was scorched,
and it withered for lack of roots.
Some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it.
But some seed fell on rich soil, and produced fruit,
a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold.
Whoever has ears ought to hear.” Matthew 13:1-9
I smiled to heaven when I read that he quoted Isaiah 55:1 - dad's verse from our conversion story! I think you can tell that dad is with me from giving me life 70 years ago, listening to the Holy Spirit as I grew up in our amazing family - open to life and bringing in 4, who lost their parents in an auto accident, hearing the call to come into The Church - all 13 of us 50 years ago, and each day since dad, mom and I have shared our Faith in Jesus and His Bride. The Church with no reservations, whole and entire!
The Word of God is a LIGHT - For the Soul it is a Spiritual treasure!
Yes, Lord!Following Pat at sunset on the 4wheeler while he moves the creep feeder in the dry pasture - the tasseled corn trying to put on ears, but rain is desperately needed, O Lord and Lady!
Pat leads the way!
It looks greener than what it is. The grass is not recovering as we are very short on rain still. Hear our prayer, O Lord!
Gus 6 years ago in KC where Nancy and family were living with the heat, by spending their days in the pool just a block away from their home.
It was our joy to also have Hallel living with The Community in inner Kansas City. We could visit both of our daughters at the same time there. Great family time and pool time as we would stay with Nancy, and then go to have time with Hallel in prayer, mass, and adoration. How we miss our time with The Community of the Lamb! Nancy especially, who would have an hour of adoration each week..."the kids were a magnet for Hallel to show up at some point while I was there." It is wonderful to have them closer to the farm, yet there is a sadness to be so far away from our Community of the Lamb - Lumen Christi/Light of Christ!
Jesus and Mary - Our Lord and Lady, how we long to give our all this day to love and serve without counting the cost. May we die to self so that you, Lord, may use us as your hands and feet, and as St Lawrence reminds us to "preach" your Word and Truth with all those we encounter. Jesus, we trust in you. Amen and Hallelujah
Rose and Bernadette enjoying the KC pool 3 summers ago.LOVE! We are all called to become saints - if we die to self and invite Jesus to dwell in us! Bless-bless, BarbaraOne more for good measure...
