My Most Cherished Cross, farmer Patrick, a year ago walking with newly walking Birdie Barbara! His love for LIFE has set the standard thar our domestic Church/family lives by! "Open to LIFE and raising LIGHTS!"
Family Soul Story - Choose Life!: Our marriage stories - "The world needs LIGHTS!"
Family Soul Story - Choose Life!: John's cancer stories
A video he did by Spirit Juice Video in Chicago to spread his story as he burns to share it with the world and all those that are lost and alone as he had been before his half hearted prayer for Faith! Now with wife and children his story continues and we are rejoicing in his example! As we would travel to Rochester over and over 13 years ago... we would share prayer of The Church, and Christian music. John shared today that the times we prayed the rosary and seeing me in constant prayer with my beads through the ups and downs of his battle - "Mary is so wonderful and I love her so much and her joining me on this journey is so important to me." I agree whole heartedly, John!Traveling through farm land and blue skies after the wonderful gift of rain last night. Pat is so happy and thankful for the rain!
I asked John if his love for Mary began when we went to Lourdes after Hallel took her habit and changed her name a couple months into his battle with brain cancer. "Yes, but really going back even further when I was a little boy - we would share the rosary before school some days sitting on the street down from the Catholic School, and then always seeing you praying to her." "Life and living would be so much less without our Spiritual Mother, Mary the Mother of God and heaven and earth."
The Gospel today really reflects John's strong desire to share his story of the depth and beauty and LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT that comes to us through our amazing wonderful Catholic Church! “Do to others whatever you would have them do to you.
This is the Law and the Prophets.“Enter through the narrow gate;
for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction,
and those who enter through it are many.
How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life..." Matthew 7
Beautiful Bobbi on her wedding day 4 years ago on the Vigil of Corpus Christi... here is her story as she told the 250 gathered at their reception!
After being classmates for all 13 years for them to come together 10 years after graduating is kind of special. She shared to the 300 family and friends gathered at the reception in her sweet humble way about how John Verly popped into her head and heart when they were seniors in HS as her future husband. Time and time again the same answer came to her through prayer and roses from St Therese and opening her eyes to see him right in front of her at WYD in Australia... When we consider what John experienced over those 10 years... brain cancer, seminary, girlfriends, ups and downs and how disheartening it probably was and how powerful her prayers were for him!!!! What amazes is that she never reached out to him, but patiently waited and trusted in the Lord's plan for them to happen according to the Holy Spirit at work! Amazing!!! And how patient and trusting and prayerful and waiting and praying for John, this sweet girl was!
We saw many pastures with cows and calves as we drove through South Dakota - "such a wonderful sight!"
Last year on Father's Day we had the same reading from 13 years ago! Jesus calming the storm! When we called France to tell Hallel about John's horrific findings of "something in his brain." "Mom, do you know the Gospel for today?" "Yes, it was Jesus calming the storm." "Well, this is the storm and Jesus is in control." How that gave us the ability to give it to the Lord and Lady and trust!
My life-line allowing me to hold her hand as we go down the narrow path carrying/dragging my Most Cherished Cross! Jesus, we trust in you. Amen and Hallelujah
A special memory from 6 years ago - how we love to have our young farm family on the farm!
There is bad in our Church, but you don't abandon Jesus because there was Judas!
Worth hearing again!
We are blessed with many wonderful Fathers! We do pray for more priests and also for fathers that lead their children in ways of Faith and Family!
LOVE St Paul and he still speaks to us today!
Dad today - the verse that spoke to dad about coming into The Church with the 13! Very Eucharistic!
