After the two very hot days... 100 or over for two days with wind... Pat and Simon, age 6, went out the following day and I had to bring out warm clothes as it had dropped about 40 degrees from one day to the next. It was pretty humorous just now listenting to Grandpa Pat Verly describe to Grandpa Larry Lanoue about Simon starting to pick rocks this year. "He is a set of legs, not a set of eyes. You have to tell him to go straight out some direction, turn that way, now look down and pick up the rock that you are standing on." I sat on the end and watched Simon scamper off for a rock and listened to Grandpa directing him...
After listening to this and watching it in action with delight as the green corn grew before my eyes... now we are praying for warmth and rain as we finally have the crop in! I am thinking about how this can be true for us in our faith life also... we are directed by the Lord if we follow after Him and His loving path laid out for us and His direction spoken to us in His Word and His Church and tradition and wisdom.
Around and around... serious work and time spent with grandpa. Much of the work that we need to do with ourselves in our spiritual job is also hard and monotonous... we don't learn to be better people in one simple lesson. We have bad habits and selfish attitudes that are intrenched deeply within us and we need to be worked on and with and have it pounded into us over and over! I see this in myself so much and it makes me scream at the frustration of having to do things that I don't want to do or like to do, but then I realize that this is there to work on making me a better servant and a come to a more humble place - this is the one virtue that is asked of us over and over - Humility!
Lord, may we "see" you with maturity and excitement as we walk forward into LIFE and LOVE! Jesus, we trust in you! Amen and Halleluia!
Open the eyes of my heart Lord,
Open the eyes of my heart,
I want to see You. I want to see You. (2x)
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/p/paul_baloche/open_the_eyes_of_my_heart.html ]
To see You high and lifted up,
Shining in the light of Your glory.
Pour out Your power and love,
As we sing holy, holy, holy.
Holy, holy holy. Holy, holy, holy.
Holy, holy, holy, I want to see You. (2x)
