We each have our own jouney to make in life. There are those in our families that we share a large portion with, yet all 10 of my siblings and myself have all found different paths... Now I have had a large window with my 5 children raising them to adulthood and watching them ask the Lord to show them their path. At times they have had to take steps in one direction or another... for instance Nancy came back from college with her teaching degree and taught here at Marshall HS - the same school that she had graduated from 5 years before. But she hoped and prayed for a Catholic man in her life, so she sadly left Marshall and went to the Cities and found Bill.
The path will have many stumbling blocks and we will fall many times over the obstacles that come our way. We will hopefully learn from them and not get off on a road that leads away from Christ and our amazing Church. We can take those hard things and carry them within us to deepen our love and our caring for the world around us - knowing that suffering and sharing that empathy with those we come in contact with.
1. Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
with the cross of Jesus going on before.
Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
forward into battle see his banners go!
Refrain:
Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
with the cross of Jesus going on before.
2. At the sign of triumph Satan's host doth flee;
on then, Christian soldiers, on to victory!
Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise.
(Refrain)
3. Like a mighty army moves the church of God;
brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod.
We are not divided, all one body we,
one in hope and doctrine, one in charity.
(Refrain)
4. Crowns and thrones may perish, kingdoms rise and wane,
but the church of Jesus constant will remain.
Gates of hell can never gainst that church prevail;
we have Christ's own promise, and that cannot fail.
(Refrain)
5. Onward then, ye people, join our happy throng,
blend with ours your voices in the triumph song.
Glory, laud, and honor unto Christ the King,
this through countless ages men and angels sing.
(Refrain)
