Hurt and humble and sick about LIFE!

David stopped in to ooo and aaa over and her 7 kittens!  "They are so cute." he kept on saying over and over. He knows that grandma loves to get her pictures and although I don't exactly think they are cute at this stage - a day old - I do think they are special when the love in grandson David's blue eyes!
Just back from 1st Saturday confession and feeling touched by the healing hand of Jesus reaching out to me...
FatherMatt Pratscher's photo.
My friend Father Matt Pratscher by Detroit had this altar on his FB post today along with these words...
On this 1st Saturday, a few words to Mary: "Show thyself a Mother; may the Word Divine, born for us thy Infant, hear our prayers through thine. "  I so agree with this and felt this ongoing as we were sharing the rosary while we were in line and going into confession today.  Mary was taking us to her Son and as our Mother of Heaven and earth she was encouraging us to lay our burdens at his feet and finding healing.
A David sandwich with kittens on each side.  Paul mentioned that maybe they could be displayed at the miracle of birth barn at the fair next week... we could get names of those that want to have kittens/cats when they are big enough to go to new homes!  It was quite something to be around her as she was delivering them yesterday... she went from 3 to 5 to 6 and then finally 7 appeared!  Her first batch of kittens and she had a bunch!
The words "hurt and humble" describe how I am these days in dealing with my sinfulness and weakness and sickness.  A lot of my feeling sick comes from the horror I feel at the bringing to the light of day the darkness/sin/death/ugliness/killing of innocent LIFE from the womb to provide body parts...  How can this continue and how can blind eyes be turned to it?  And how can it be defended or can these tapes be called lies and deceit?  My stomach is sick at the condition of this world!  The sacrament of marriage trampled and for 45 years the taking of LIFE as a choice!  I am finding it hard to smile and find JOY in this world - it is so colored by darkness - the culture of death!
Mama Cat, , seems to be calm in the face of so much new life and new responsibility to nourish and care for that life!

Jesus, the Gospel today has always sickened me in much the same way.... the beheading of St John the Baptist!  I always am sad to see this is the Gospel when it shows up from time to time.  Why?  Because it is wrong, sinful and graphic in the taking of a LIFE which was a shining LIGHT in this world - leading us to die to sin and embrace The Cross and follow Christ!  How I long to find a place of Peace and JOY in the midst of all this sadness, hurt and humble when faced with my sinfulness!  How I have longed to come to you in the sacrament of reconciliation, and am so blessed to have this unconditional love and forgiveness always there - your nail scarred hands open to me reaching to hold me and comfort me.  Jesus, may your Truth be known and recognized in the darkness of sin and death.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah
David and his Godfather hard at work... they were watching , but she waited until the next day to have her kittens...  Bless-bless, Barbara Luke

Food for thought - St Alphonsus pray for us on this your feast day.  You left the world to serve those down and out..."Alphonsus left a promising law career to enter the priesthood.  He was drawn to work with thieves, prostitutes, and the destitute.  At his 'evening chapels' he led the laborers of Naples in prayer and study of the catechism."  See www.magnificat.com
