Vigil of Maria's birthday!

David and Gus are seriously stirring our batch of spaghetti sauce this morning... another big day of canning with the help of two of my girls and our 8 little ones.  It is heart warming to have them pitching in to help.  Nancy wrote a post today about how we learn to work together as a family on the farm.

Today is the vigil - the night before Maria's birthday.  Why go there?  Because we always celebrate the vigil of The Assumption of Mary to Heaven on Maria's birthday!  Many nights after her birthday supper we would load up the car and head into mass to sing "Ave Maria" on her birthday!  I am currently not at home, so wishing Maria a happy birthday might only be possible now on the vigil/night before her birthday!
A view of our canning today... Mary's pet rabbit, Beverly, joined the work crew.
It was a drippy rainy day, so the bathtub became a kid playground while many of us were busy in the kitchen.

Today in the Gospel Jesus speaks about how we are called to forgive as we have been forgiven.  "Seventy-seven times" we are called to forgive those that sin against us!
Maria's family with great-grandma in January when they were here...
A good one with just the kids - Romeo is now almost a year old and will be a lot different.   We will be there to see him in a few days, and get some real hugs and kisses!

Jesus, hold Maria close to your heart burning with love for her.  Give us safe travels as we go to spend some time with her and her family.  Our Lady from heaven look after our needs and hear our prayers taking our intercessions to Jesus.  May we forgive all those that are in debt to us.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Bless-bless, Barb
