Romeo in Washington DC last week - "And Romie pretty much looks like a DC tourism poster child here!"
Such a special picture to begin this hallmark day of our Pope being in DC, it is also the feastday of St Pio, my brother Jim's birthday and our God-daughter, Erika's birthday. I am filled with great excitement for this day!
He is here on a beautiful morning in Washington DC! Interested in spreading "worship your Lord, be good to your brother."

Saint Pio had a powerful ministry in the confessional - some days to 18 hours! His heart was filled with Mercy for repentant sinners as he had the wounds of Christ for 50 years, and through this sharing with Christ in his extreme suffering for our sins - St Pio had a huge heart filled with compassion for those that take that to heart and humbly ask for forgiveness for those sins.
Pope Francis has caused a flurry of smiles in his humble small Fiat he is getting around in...
"I will also travel to Philadelphia for the Eighth World Meeting of Families, to celebrate and support the institutions of marriage and the family at this, a critical moment in the history of our civilization."
This is from his speech at the Whitehouse, and we, who hold The Truth in our hearts, minds and souls... know what he is saying. The Family is the Domestic Church - it is to be headed by one man and one woman, who are open to LIFE and raising LIGHTS for the world. Jesus, hear our prayers for Pope Francis and for the Truth to be known and held close to our hearts!
Going between EWTN and CNN is so crazy... one is building up The Church and the other is constantly pushing their liberal agendas.
There is much pulling at me this day... The Gospel from Luke 9 in which Jesus sends out his disciples to "proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick....then they went out from village to village proclaiming the good news and curing diseases everywhere." Why? There is a powerful sharing pouring out on a private group I am in of women that have suffered loss of miscarriage stillbirth, and loss of infants and young children. Imagine many stories being shared and the combined pain and suffering... yet, another common thread so far is that they are all young women in the midst of their journeys. I am feeling more and more that I need to share my perspective of one a generation ahead and looking back with the help of the Holy Spirit! I am filled with a deep feeling of yearning to share with these many suffering women the healing that Jesus speaks about here. Lord, hear my prayer.
Borrowing some pictures in the press.... so cute!
Thinking of my brother, Jim, today on his birthday, too. I also have a God-daughter, Erika, to remember today. It seems that there is much to hold close to my heart this day in my family and in my Faith!
It was fun to just watch him going down the street in Washington much like this scene in Cuba.
Jesus, days filled with greatness keep us filled with excitement and Joy to carry us through the day to day. Come Holy Spirit give me words of healing and encouragement to the young women sharing their pain - the wounds of Christ which we have on our bodies - open to LIFE and yet suffering the pain of loss... why Lord? Our little ones in heaven that are at peace with you and keep our eyes on heaven - knowing of their prayers for us, and filled with the healing excitement of being reunited with them when we enter heaven. Thank you for The Church, who is there to help us get to heaven if only we will follow the Truth they hold out to us! No, shopping cart Catholic here! Jesus, we long to proclaim the Good News in all we say and do. Jesus, we trust in you. Amen and Hallelujah
I am so in love with my Beloved Catholic Church! May it be strengthened by the visit to the U.S. by our Holy Father Pope Francis. Bless-bless, Barbara Luke
Happy Birthday, Jim and Erika!
A good one for our country and our personal walks of Faith.
Love it!

How cherished is my spiritual Mother of God!

So powerful considering the pain of loss through miscarriage and stillbirth!
Benedictine monks singing Gregorian Chant - seems good for today as we watch the midday prayer shared with the Pope with his Bishops!
