Simon and Mary in a sea of purple in the group picture for this year. 4H is a wonderful way for kids to learn grow and learn and present themselves in front of people. 4H has been huge for our family for 3 generations now.
"I pray because the need flows out of me
all the time, waking and sleeping.
I can so relate to this Truth in my life! Prayer is so important to me... a day is not complete without prayer!
Knowing that there are 110 projects including horses and lamas for the first year... this must be a sea of 110 young people excited to sell the ribbons on their animals to the highest bidder. This is something that Pat and I share sitting side by side through the auction each year. A great way to support young people that have done a lot of work on their animals, and for the fair to end for another year!
Our day started with a polka mass on the fair grounds... about 200 people shared in the Eucharist and Father encouraged us to look to Jesus in The Word and The Sacrament... The Gospel today is Peter walking on water and looking to Jesus when he is overwhelmed by all that he has gotten himself into when he asks Jesus for something big, hard and miraculous in his life. It makes me realize that I can go ahead and ask away when I want a miracle and if it looks like I am still sinking... I will call out to him humbly and he will reach out and help me, if only I look to Him!Many times in my life I have felt his hand reach out for mine...
"Oh you of little faith, why did you doubt?" Jesus to us as we sink in our life's challenges/are on our cross/falling down with the weight of our cross/the storms of life swamp us and we have the waves wash over our heads/John's brain cancer/Patrick's traumatic birth/Family struggles and lack of faith... Jesus, we trust in you. Bless-bless, Barb
The fair is done for another year... How can that be?
Joy's first fair and she was such a good girl for all those long days!
Time with dad in the ring... next year Dave will be in 4H!
At the fair with 6 kids - just before the goat show... Joy will be running around next year and will be looking the goats in the eyes!
Calm Simon said that he liked showing this year "OK"
Grandpa Pat, Rose and the lamas...
Looking good - Dave, Dad and his calf looking thoughtful.
white flowers and black and white dairy animal go together in a pretty way...
