The day before her 5th birthday, Bernadette got to spend some time at Lumen Christi Monastery/LIGHT of Christ with her Aunt Little Sister Hallel! Nancy said that they got to attend the gathering while Hallel played with their kids. They know how much I love to get pictures so they are very kind and generous with me including this birthday keepsake.
I am still adjusting to the truth that my youngest daughter is here in the U.S. for the next year in KC! Knowing that a couple months will have passed since I was there last makes me a bit sad that the year is flying by without much time with her. I do find some solace knowing that Nancy is seeing her quite often and supplying me with sharing.
It is exciting to know that Hallel will be here when Nancy welcomes her 5th child, and it is due to arrive around Easter, so we will be able to see her and share in the JOY together. Usually Hallel has to wait even years to meet and see her nieces and nephews, but her mom/me is sure to get her pictures and updates from time to time. Knowing that during Advent and Lent we are to limit our contact makes our fake plans to get there for Thanksgiving pretty important to me. It will be just Pat and I, but we have Nancy and Bill to stay with and Bill's cooking is very wonderful to look forward too, also. It would be so special if some from The Community could come for dinner, but we just wait and pray and spend time together when we can.

Look mom... we set the table with placemats, wine for toasting, Our Lady and The child of Prague, candles and meatloaf! After my 5 days with you and dad... I see that it is special to sit down to a wonderful meal with a well set table and beauty all around!
"Chastised a little they shall be greatly blessed, because God tried them and found them worthy of himself." Wisdom 2/the first reading today. How we feel the bite of the hurts and mistakes we make and long to do better. Do we learn from our mistakes? This is my prayer and hope and wish!
Jesus, today in the Gospel you remind us that we are called to give our all without counting the cost! "We are unprofitable servants, we have done what we were obliged to do." Luke17:10 As Sr Ruth Borrows writes in the meditation of the day - Our task is fundamentally the same as Jesus'. We have to live out our own individual life with its own amalgam, in love of God and our neighbor, bearing all things, believing all things, hoping all things, enduring all things...accepting it in humble, trustful obedience to the Father, and through this loving obedience filtering out all that is evil, transforming it into gold.
We take what we are given and die to self so that Jesus can live in us! Yes, it is painful and hard, but we call that the Tree of LIFE/The Cross! Jesus, we trust in you. Amen and Hallelujah
