No this is not today... it came up from 4 years ago today... 8+inches of snow for 1 1/2 year old Rose, who is now a 5 year old kindergartener. It as too cute not to start with today in honor of a surprise snow storm overnight giving us a pretty light covering.
Now this beautiful porch is making the farm special with Ruth and Paul's hard work and vision. It has been cleared for the winter with now snow draped fields and cows out on the snowy stalks. Sad for no more wonderful family time meals shared on the porch. I predict that next March/April we will have our first of many for spring/summer/fall on the farm!
This was last week with 7 month old Joy, and hundreds of bales as far as the eye can see.... after many loads they are all off and Paul is now ripping the ground and as he says... getting rid of the snow by turning it under the soil...

Pat said that he got home late and the snow hit with huge flakes thick and quick... a surprising sudden snow that surprised us this morning. Yes, it is pretty, but it sure feels like winter has arrived and that is scary. We still have corn to combine, and cows to bring home off many pastures, and it sure feels good to have the bales all home!

Ruth and Joy went to a wedding and they looked so nice at mass today in their wedding clothes... I had to capture their beauty after we shared a wonderful mass together. Simon and Mary were altar servers... Mary carried the cross up the aisle with Simon and another boy the candles ahead of Father. Paul and John administered Eucharist. Mary's class from school were in charge of the breakfast after mass with the rolls. These two men lovingly share with others His Body and Blood. Very moved by the Word shared and Father's preaching on the Word while having our family so much showing their LOVE for HIM!
St Paul to the Thessalonians today speaks about the "nursing mother cares for her children." I know that Ruth and 7 month old Joy share this closeness of a nursing mother with her child. I always loved that bond and would have been very sad to know that John was to be my last... the Lord knew that it had to just happen to me with losses until the bitter end of my nest years..."the best and the worst years of my life."

Father did talk about how humility is not something that is encouraged by our society... Yes, but doses of it comes with my life. It hurts to be humbled, but it does make it palatable knowing that we are asked to be humble in our lives... dying to self so that Jesus can work in and through us. Come Holy Spirit

Yes, my Christmas lights are year round on the roof, now with ice cicles as the last load of bales heads for home!!!!

After mass we had about 3 loads left to get home... and now it is done for this year. A few of the bales are snowy, but still good for use as feed and bedding through the long winter. Pat was just talking about how the winters seem to be cloudy... Yes. "The snow we got this spring and now the snow now... that wasn't a very big window to get our crop in and out again along with the hail we got on a lot of our crops. It has been a challenging year! And it has been a long time since we had to deal with snow."
Yes, we still have a lot of work ahead, but not bales to pick up! Lord, keep the farmers safe and sane.

I try not to complain about things I cannot somehow change and yet, "I do not like snow." Today is a good day to do something about it and make it go away, at least for now.
