"Feed not your spirit on anything but God." The Mystical Doctor/St John of the Cross

Joy's first Belgian cookies!!!!  Pat and I were there last night while Ruth and Paul shared their Faith and message of being open to LIFE and raising lights as well as being respectful in a loving marriage in which they do and say life-giving words and deeds one to the other!  We tell their kids that they are "sharing Jesus" with high school kids, and that is the basic truth!

Pat and I did some figuring and decided that Ruth with her half Belgian heritage and Paul with his full that their kids are 3/4 Belgian and Belgian cookies are in their future!  They all gave us a thumbs up on our cookies this year...
The kids all pitched in... Mary and David cutting each cookie, Rose and Luke rolling, Simon doing his homework, and Joy trying our her new teeth on her first Belgian cookie.  The kids ate their fair share of them, too!
Happy JOY thinks they are buttery and sugary, which is basically what makes them the best!

Lots of last minute planning and packing.  The Big Day has arrived for our adventure to begin! I found myself getting anxious about getting to the airport at rush hour with the possibility of light snow to add to the mess.  I am allowing an extra hour to hopefully get there fine, but I will breath a sigh of relief when they are all loaded and we are outside of the Cities!
Pat has made most of the Belgian cookies in our 39 years of marriage.  He used to sit at the stove and make one at a time with the cast iron maker, but now 4 with the electric!  The two ball rollers and cute and watch their grandpa carrying forth the tradition!

It is I who say to you, "Fear not,
I will help you."  Isaiah 41 from the first reading at mass just ministered to my worry and fears.  Yes, I am taking every precaution possible to be there safe and on time, but I also know that I have my Lord always with me and His Mother, carrying my needs and prayers to him from my chapel on wheels!
This was Pat's idea... sharing Belgian cookies with the grandkids!  He is such a wonderful grandpa and loves to share times doing family jobs.  Thanks to him we will have all 15 of our grandchildren together at CCC in just a day!

Another Feast day for John today!  St John of the Cross seems to take us altogether out of this world and reminds us to dwell deep inside in the world of our Faith/the Spirit at work in our lives!

 For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd;
He will lead them to springs of living water. - Rev 7:17

"That eternal Spring is hidden
yet I know well where it flows...
I know that there can be
   nothing else so beautiful
and that the heavens and the earth drink there...

I know well that its bottom cannot be found
and that no one can penetrate its depths...
   Its clarity is never muddied,
and I know that every light has come from it...
Well do I know how vast, how mighty is the flow
of the stream born in this Fount...

This eternal Spring is hidden
in this living Bread to give us life...

It is here calling to creatures

and from its water they quench their thirst...

This living Fount that I long for

I see in this Bread of Life..."

FEAST DAY - Dec 14

One of many in her future... how we love to share Christmas JOY!
"That all may see and know,
observe and understand,
That the hand of the LORD has done this,"  Isaiah 41

So appropriate for this heart tugging moment 4 years ago!  Here are my words;
Within minutes of John walking in the house yesterday - this was the scene! John telling Patrick verbally and Patrick showing John nonverbally that they are both healed by Prayer and forever grateful for answered prayers by healing! Jesus, we are forever reminded of the power of Prayer when we look at our miracles in LIFE! Jesus, we trust in YOU. Bless-bless

Such an amazing example to the world that PRAYER is powerful love language between us and God and that prayers are answered!!!
John's promo video!! How he longs to shout his story and share the LOVE he has been given in gaining his Faith through brain cancer!

Jesus, go with me this day!!! I know that you are with me and that you are in control.  I look so forward to the big adventure ahead, and starting with my hours in my chapel on wheels with the beads traveling through my fingers filling me with Peace and Trust in your plan so supreme.  How I long to leave self behind and give my all to you without counting the cost!  Jesus, I trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah

Another precious memory of 1 year old Luke Paul 3 years ago eating another tradition in our family - Christmas Sundae!
'Luke wishing you all a happy Gaudete 3rd Sunday of Advent!!! Rejoice! No better way to spend Sunday than with a Family dinner on the farm - Christmas sundaes and Belgian cookies..."
Two years later on Gaudete Sunday Pat's mother left us!  And this is now where Luke lives on the farm with his wonderful family!  The wonderful adventures of LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT on the Faith/Family/Farm!  Bless-bless, Barbara Mary Luke
