Caring for the crippled/You will show me the path to life

I discovered the sweetest scene in the chicken house this morning... Gus helping the crippled chicken drink at the waterer.  He was gently holding him up on his stiff unusable leg and the cripple was drinking and drinking.
The chicken was very thirsty and Gus patiently held him so he could drink.

Since this happened I have given a lot of thought to how those crippled, blind, lame, deaf, those with special needs allow us to serve them and care for them and live out our Christian faith, morals and values!  ALL LIFE is a gift and those that are less fortunate and not perfect by the world's standards have a right to LIFE as anyone else.  We are called to love and serve without counting the cost!
If every chicken was perfect... we would just feed and water them and leave with barely a backward glance, but this one needs us to help him and so we do.  We could have wrung his neck right away, but he is serving as a lesson on compassion for the grandkids.

Those in families that have special needs in a family member... speak about how blessed they are by them being in their lives.  It seems to soften them and make them more caring and forgiving!
Bernadette takes a turn with Crip the crippled chicken, who is giving us a lesson on caring for the less fortunate.
 Service with a smile, too!
The chickens have a walk to check out the outside world, too.

Psalm 16 today is a special prayer for us and recognition of all the our Loving Lord does for us!
You will show me the path to life,
fullness of joys in your presence,
the delights at your right hand forever.
R. Keep me safe, O God; you are my hope.

If we stay close to Him through our daily prayers and reading of His Word, and Adoration, and the Sacraments and the Saints each day - today St Norbert - we will have the joys and the delights at his right hand!
Wonderful porch meals all day long these spectacular days!   We are back to planting today, and continue to pray without ceasing for the farmers!
George is getting his thumb in this mouth...  mom would love to have a thumb sucker, George!  All 4 of my girls sucked their thumbs and they were so good and easy!

Talk about Jesus praying to His Father about us his followers/disciples today in the Gospel in John 17
"...Father, they are your gift to me.
I wish that where I am they also may be with me,
that they may see my glory that you gave me,
because you loved me before the foundation of the world.
Righteous Father, the world also does not know you,
but I know you, and they know that you sent me.
I made known to them your name and I will make it known,
that the love with which you loved me
may be in them and I in them."

To think of us as a gift to Jesus!  That seems impossible to be true, but He does love us unconditionally and so he very well can consider us a gift to him regardless of our sinful weaknesses!
What LOVE!
The planter started planting across the road while we ate our wonderful blueberry pancakes on the porch this morning.  As the farmer came down the headlands - he looked over to see 4 kids in jammies watching him and he honked at them.  Quite a sight to lighten his day in this stressful spring,  My heart is breaking today for a farmer, who snapped and took his life a few days ago after this horrible spring... Such a loss.

Love my huge cottonwood tree... beautiful sight and shade on this warm day in June.

Jesus, our world and lives are rich as we see you in all those around us - most especially the poor and lame, and blind and deaf .  We see you there and we are filled with love and compassion.  May we serve without counting the cost.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah

Joseph with #6 child, Hector Joseph, who will be 3 months in two days!  In less than 2 weeks he will be in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Missouri... visiting family for the first time!  Yes, they are driving to Kansas to see Hallel, too!  I am so very excited for the family time to begin!  Jesus, we trust in you.  Bless-bless, Barb
