I miss my father and find myself appreciating the things I can still do to bring him close and the powerful prayers that we shared. At around 3p Pat and I shared the rosary together on the road, and then the chaplet on which I prayed for "Robert" and his journey on All Souls day. Much comfort and appreciation to Jesus and Mary for holding me close to their hearts of LOVE!
"You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. And you shall love your neighbor as yourself..." Matthew 22:39-40 To read this today in the Office of Readings for St Martin de Porres was so beautiful! I can put the name Robert in there and so it is true!
Dad's Eulogy was read so wonderfully by my brother, Dan, who added a lot of color and Truth!
Listen to Dan here...This first reading today - groan over this amazing Truth from St Paul to the Philippians!
Have among yourselves the same attitude
that is also yours in Christ Jesus,
Who, though he was in the form of God,
did not regard equality with God
something to be grasped.
Rather, he emptied himself,
taking the form of a slave,
coming in human likeness;
and, found human in appearance,
he humbled himself,
becoming obedient to death,
even death on a cross.
Because of this, God greatly exalted him
and bestowed on him the name
that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus
every knee should bend,
of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that
Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2
Today being Tuesday - the sorrowful mysteries... Deacon Robert had placed 10 of the 14 stations up to when Jesus is nailed to the Cross to be meditated upon while we did the 4th Station - Jesus carries the heavy cross! Such a powerful way to bring these verses to life and what he did for us! I predict that at 3p I will be sitting out in the sun on the porch praying the rosary and chaplet for our country and communing with my saints in heaven - dad, mom, Mary, Lincoln, Pat's parents... on and on.
There is just so much today in the readings! The Psalm 22 just takes me to my father and his prayer for his family of 130!
To him my soul shall live;
my descendants shall serve him.
Let the coming generation be told of the LORD
that they may proclaim to a people yet to be born
the justice he has shown.
R. I will praise you, Lord, in the assembly of your people. Psalm 22
I can feel my father praying for this more than ever now that he is on the path to eternal LIFE! No doubt! He prayed on his 3rd decade each day for new life in the womb! Now he will be a champion in heaven along with mother and St JPII and St Mother Teresa of Calcutta for LIFE! He knew the day before he passed away that there was a new life to pray for in our family! LOVE!
My father would say that when he would share the Truth and give guidance to his family, some would say that he was preaching. He then realized that as a minister then Deacon in The Church that he was called to preach, so he took it from then on as a compliment. How he prayed for and longed for those that are lost to find the Way, the Truth and the LIFE!
Such a model of beauty and work is "T"Two years ago today this happened - Granddaughter, Liz, brought her two children to spend some precious time with my parents in their beloved home in St Croix Falls, WI! It warms my heart to see mother smiling and holding a small stuffed toy and two great-grandchildren.
The family that took the time and made the effort to be part of mom and dad's life are now so grateful and were very blessed to have these times and memories with my parents!
Shortly after father arrived 6 months ago, he started talking about getting registered to vote here. He was very sharp and would watch the news and the debates with interest. So when our ballots arrived not much time passed before he filled it out and got it in the mail.
One from Halloween just because it is so precious! Ruth and Paul with their Goddaughter, Birdie as a sweet baby Birdie! She looks like her aunt Ruth and the Verly girls - she is the first Verly girl of this generation!
I can't get enough of the fact here in color that dad brought his 10 children together! LOVE!This man!!! He is the reason that father came here! "He needs to come here with you, Barb!" I am grateful to him for his direction in my life - taking up where my father before him listened to the Holy Spirit and brought our family on such an amazing spiritual journey! Than to know that Patrick was praying for his Catholic wife... he probably prayed all 13 of us into The Church when so many were leaving during Vatican 2!
Yes, he has been farming most of the time dad was here, but he brought dad Eucharist and would spend time with him as allowed! Most of all he rejoiced with the hours of prayer we supported "Pat and all the farmers" with each day of doing our "work."

Doing a head count to make sure that we were ALL there around dad! The Biggest Smile was dad's!Dad how you lived out the words of the Psalm today! "Let the coming generation be told of the Lord..." Psalm 22
There is a new truth - you certainly are praying EVERY day for all of us first and middle names! Roses were from dad to Our Lady, and how he loved her!
Lord, there is so much to fill us with hope on this election day! Knowing that heaven is engaged in the battle for Truth to come into this world and illumine that LIFE must be valued first and foremost! There is nothing else that is more important! Mom and dad are at work fighting for LIFE! Jesus, we trust in you. Amen and Hallelujah
Angela goes way back before she met my brother! She lived across the street from a friend and would come over to play scrabble with me! She is 9 years younger, so was in her teens and later battled for her life against blood cancer! She survived using the methods of that time - the 1970s... and now is suffering some issues as a result of that treatment.
How my family loves her, and are blessed by her ability to make this world a more beautiful place with her homes and cooking and sewing and just living life to the fullest! She is my sounding board when I need to share our like-minded vision of the world... We see eye so eye! My prayers are with her and for her without ceasing as she faces chemo and radiation for yet another cancer that has come as result of her harsh treatments to live!
Her 3 amazing sons including the twins came in a "miracle window" of the LIFE she longed for! So amazing!!! Bless-bless, Barbara
The miracle picture of the 10 with dad! Oak leaves from the Franconia Cemetery where mom and dad are now side by side, the mum plant from Hospice! On the wall behind is the family picture from the end of August with dad and the 30 of my family! LOVE!!!Saint Martin de Porres1579 - 1639

St. Martin was a humble Dominican lay brother from Peru. His days were filled with nursing the sick and caring for the poor. Brother Martin was instrumental in founding an orphanage, took care of slaves brought from Africa and managed the daily alms of the priory with practicality as well as generosity. Among the many miracles attributed to him were those of levitation, bilocation, miraculous knowledge, instantaneous cures, and a remarkable rapport with animals.
