The Pat and Barb Verly family and their 5 children, in laws and grandkids along with many prayer warriors have been drawn together by John's cancer... sharing daily for 8 months started this blog- Family Soul Story - Our faith, family, farm and now our cancer journey called HEALING have colored and deepened our world. WE continue to share and depend on the support of our prayer warrior community, that has lowered us into the Lord's presence for His healing!
Maria's pictures today - 2 weeks in Wisconsin with Joe's family after 3 month deployment/Never too late to do His work!
Talk about bringing it close to home to hear about the horrible happenings in Afghanistan - our Captain Joseph just back from his 3 month deployment to Afghanistan! He got back home just about the 4th of July!
He describes his time there like "Groundhog Day" - the same routine, same 4 walls in the inner office where he lawyered, the same food and the same people day after day. Now with the unrest and horrible news from there... so sad!

A week later Captain Joseph took his family to spend two weeks away at his parents peaceful acerage in Wisconsin for 2 weeks. I am sharing some of the sweet pictures from Maria's blog today here, as they reveal that peaceful and family bonding time they shared there. So important after they had all that time with dad away, including their new baby sister born.
13 year old Therese and 4 1/2 year old Evangeline look right at home on the farm. I am sure they were great help to grandma/Oma in her big garden!
They were in Lake country and so days on the water having relaxing cool family fun were part of their time.

Bubble sink bath for Maggie. Asking for prayers for our Maggie Rose as she was born with the closed "soft spot" in her skull, which normally closes at about 24 years old! It will not hurt her brain, but will make her face lopsided and will effect her eye on one side. She will have surgery to correct this around age 1 year. Will keep you posted. Jesus, we trust in you.

Driving the All terrain vehicle around the farm... reminds us that we are not too far away from having drivers like Simon has begun to show us... Ruth has help getting her 6 going on 7 in many directions at the same time and Mary will soon join him as she is taking behind the wheel now.

The 3 generations make a keepsake for 2021 and all that it holds for them including their dad home safe and new baby sister, and in about a year they will more than likely be relocated with the army.

The Gospel today is the wonderful parable of the owner of the vineyard, who goes out and hires workers throughout the day from Matthew 20!
Why do you stand here idle all day?’ They answered, ‘Because no one has hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You too go into my vineyard.’
The last group of workers only worked for the last hour, yet they were paid first and an entire day's wage! What does this say? That it is never too late to answer the call and serve others and do the work of the Gospel!
When it was evening the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Summon the laborers and give them their pay, beginning with the last and ending with the first.’ When those who had started about five o’clock came, each received the usual daily wage. So when the first came, they thought that they would receive more, but each of them also got the usual wage. And on receiving it they grumbled against the landowner, saying, ‘These last ones worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us, who bore the day’s burden and the heat.’ He said to one of them in reply, ‘My friend, I am not cheating you. Did you not agree with me for the usual daily wage? Take what is yours and go. What if I wish to give this last one the same as you? Or am I not free to do as I wish with my own money? Are you envious because I am generous?’ Thus, the last will be first, and the first will be last.”
Just imagine how much it means to Our Lord for us to even late in our days to come to work in His Vineyard! Those that have reached Sainthood and worked through the days' burden and heat, are equally rewarded with his rewards of Eternal LIFE, and how they rejoice with those that come around no matter when or how late!
Fr Kelly a army chaplain for many years and a good friend to Joe and Maria comes to say goodbye as he is being reassigned elsewhere. Thank you, Fr Kelly, and thank you for your important ministry to the armed forces!

Happy Birthday to Pat's two lovely sisters, Ida today and Mary in a few days. Ida is #10 and Mary is #9 in their wonderful family!
Lots of Prayers following Nancy and Bill and their kids as they are traveling across country with a goal to reach Fort Lewis Army base and spend some time with Maria's family! Mount Rushmore on the way!
Talk about cherry tomatoes! Ruth picked all these yesterday and there were still more out there! Tomorrow is our first canning day - Salsa!
I on the other hand have a single bowl of cherry tomatoes for Pat and I.
Reading Brother Victor talk about salad from the gardens - this just was calling to me with our farm eggs and tomatoes!
Yes, it was very good!
Tomorrow caught my eye as we will be doing our first canning of tomatoes tomorrow, and I will be too busy to write here...
He speaks about too many to eat, so canning is what happens. Love to realize that we are living the life of the monks - prayer and garden and canning!

How wise is C S Lewis? Very! Looking back I thought that I knew what my life should be like, but the Lord had his own plan - it was hard but it was right!
