Prayers at midnight- on the foundation of prayer and adoration/Jesus feeds us - Word, Body, and Blood/Fair in the air

Burgers and corn on the cob on Ruth's beautiful porch last evening... it is so fun to see how Birdie is getting to be a big girl now, and she loves her corn.  This year with corn coming more slowly and the drought affecting our crop - it just tastes more sweet and wonderful!  When you have less - you appreciate it more.
4 year old Joy hard at her ear of corn!
Birdie begs for raw corn and eats the whole thing!  Grandpa and baby kitten sharing his lap is part of our evening on the farm.
Getting ready to walk pigs and calves for the 4H show coming up in a few weeks.
And they are off!!!!
Joy and her pink (?) pig - they wash them after they walk around the yard twice...

Joy loves to chase her pig!
Jude and Birdie thought that it was all very interesting.
Jude was a good pig chaser, too!
Part of the way he held grandpa's hand and then he had the big stick to keep them in line, so they wouldn't wander off in tangents.  I guess they like their bath so much that after the first time around they go to where they get their baths, and need to be encouraged to go another turn around first.
I predict that Jude and Birdie will be showing 4H animals in their future... they can choose beef, pigs or goats, with maybe chickens too.  Or all of the above.
Lots of activity with the many kids and projects and the county fair just around the corner after a year off due to the pandemic.  Excitement and stress is building and the fair is certainly in the air!  Not this week but next!

Birdie is surprised to find Godfather and Simon walking calves towards her.
Nothing is too unusual on the farm at this time of year! Soon you will be doing this with the help of your daddy and Godfather, Birdie Barbara.
John and my hours of adoration overlap, and we pray together with Jesus before us.  How we find this powerful and fills us with love, peace and hope - the fruits of the Holy Spirit!
The incision on the back of John's head where they did his brain biopsy to diagnose his brain cancer 12 years ago.  It left him with ataxia on his left side, yet he is counting his blessings as he has recovered so much since.  We recall how he had to be helped to walk by dad, a platform walker, or one of his sisters, and now he has some unsteadiness, but can do all he needs to for caring for himself, his children, and things he needs to do around the house and yard.  "I have recovered almost all that I lost with that surgery."

Pat helping John walk a few days after his biopsy... so hard and humbling and scary the first time after surgery they asked him to touch his nose and he could not find it with his finger.  What has become of my 20 year old son? Will he ever recover?  Yes!!!

Family Soul Story - Choose Life!: John's cancer stories

John's story continues with wife, Bobbi, and two wonderful children!  John, who is a stay at home dad, shared that Bobbi has given him some bullet points to address while the kids are taking their naps.  "I write down answers to questions so that I can start making some progress on my book."   So great that Bobbi is giving him some help and direction on this burning need he has to share with the world how he found his faith through brain cancer!

I was touched by St Teresa of Calcutta again today after sharing my wonderful powerful hour of prayer with John and then praying for the 250+ - Pat's family and my family - placing each one in the monstrance with Jesus!  Last night another first - a set of identical twin boys in the womb!  I always smile ear to ear and feel the joy welling up within me when I pray for new life for the first time.

I included tomorrow as it is our 43rd wedding anniversary and seeing August 3rd is an element of happiness to know of the 43 years with my Most Cherished Cross!

A basket full of 5 summer kittens about 2 weeks old with their eyes open now.  Always more kittens!  I now have 2 kittens here - as I have brought over a brother to my Cornelius and his name is Ignatius - Iggy for short.  no pictures yet.  I have noticed that Corny has less time for me and is now distracted by his brother in the form of tussles here and there.
14 month old and kitten in his lap - what a a strong gentle lover of LIFE!  Open to LIFE and raising LIGHTS is what our family is based upon now to 4 generations - starting with our parents - I the oldest of 11 and Pat the middle of 10.

Your little and soft...

The Gospel today is feeding of the 5,000 not including the women and children from the 5 loaves and two fish!  Matthew 14.  That small wafer of unleavened bread becomes his Body - bread from heaven, which fills us and satisfies us!

Taking the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven,
he said the blessing, broke the loaves,
and gave them to the disciples,
who in turn gave them to the crowds.
They all ate and were satisfied,
and they picked up the fragments left over–
twelve wicker baskets full.
Those who ate were about five thousand men,
not counting women and children.  Matthew 14

Jesus comes to us each day in The Word and his Body broken for us!  We are fed with the finest wheat!
How we love to start the first hour of Monday with laying our petitions on the altar as Jesus is adored in the small host of His Body in the monstrance.  Sunday brings us to the 18th week of Ordinary time, and I went to another of dad's well marked Prayer of The Church prayer books.
Really appreciated this Saint for today - St Peter Eymard, who started an order to adore Jesus in The Eucharist.  Jesus in the Holy Tabernacle - our center and our life!  How I am lifted up by my two hours of Adoration each week - my midnight on Monday morning and my Friday praying with 7 Sisters for Fr Denny.  I pray that my encounter will allow me to carry that glow forward in my personal "transfiguration."
Coming to Jesus rather than what the world has to offer us is where we find Truth and LIGHT so that we may be lights to the world around us of sin and darkness.
“Society will again someday become Christian
won to Jesus Christ by the apostolate of
Eucharistic Prayer.”  -  St Peter Julian Eymard

“The spread of the Eucharistic Kingdom of Christ
is necessary for the salvation of society.

The Eucharist is the life not only of the individual
Christian, but of nations as well.
We know well that an age flourishes or degenerates
in accordance with its worship of the divine Eucharist.
It is the life and measure of its faith, charity, and virtue.

The Eucharist is not only for personal piety;
it is essential to social life,
for it is the very life of the world.

We must take Christ from the solitude of His tabernacle,
so that He may place Himself at the head of Christian society,
to guide and save it. We must build stately palaces, royal thrones,
organize a court of faithful servants, a family of friends
and a host of adorers and apostles. Such a public and solemn
protestation of our faith in the kingship of Christ, in the reality
of His sacramental presence is a prime necessity of our day.”

Apostle of the Eucharist

To be possessed by Jesus
and to possess Him -
that is the perfect reign of Love."
Pope Benedict in my mother's daily book of his wisdom today speaks about how we are called to "only by losing ourselves can we find ourselves."  Dying to self so that we may truly follow Jesus as we become his hands and feet and voice of Truth!

Jesus, how we need to be yours more and more.  May we die to self so that you may use us to your honor and glory.  May we take up or drag our Most Cherished Cross and follow after you as we stagger down the narrow path with our eyes on heaven forever with you, Mary, the saints and our loved ones.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah
Prayer is so important to me each day - this helps me feel less like a lazy slug and more accepting of my "work."  Definitely a happy medium is good too, but my prayer life is foremost to me!  Bless-bless, Barbara
