St John Paul II and St Zelie Martin Patrons to Simon and Therese!/Candlemas - Presentation/A Faith and Family weekend

I am in the midst of making many cards for the big occasions coming up for our domestic Church/family!  This picture of 13 year old Therese, a baby bottle goat and her baby sister, 9 month old Maggie Rose is one that I chose to use on her card.

Therese is the model oldest sister to each of her 6 younger siblings.  She has changed more diapers than her mom I would venture to guess, and has cared for them all over the years with great joy and excitement for the arrival of new LIFE!

Feeding a bottle goat on our family Christmas weekend a few weeks ago.

As it has happened we have Therese in Washington being confirmed on the same day as her older cousin, Simon, here on the farm in Marshall!  Aunt Nancy is her sponsor and will be representing the family by flying there to be with Therese for her big day!

Therese was Mary in our Live Nativity this year with little Thomas as baby Jesus and her 5 year old sister, Evangeline was an angel and Bernadette.

There were many options for Therese to choose her Patron Saint, but last night she chose... St Zelie Martin, the mother of St Therese of Lisieux for whom Therese is named!

Maria shared with me this amazing quote that Therese has found from St Zelie

Love is not a feeling.  It is an act of the will.

A gift from my sister, Marty, to me a few years back as she knows how much I love love LOVE St JPII!  I found out this morning that 17 year old Simon Patrick has chosen him for his patron Saint!  I am over the moon happy and excited and plan to get a very wonderful frame to put this in for him to always have with him on his journey to college and beyond!
On my wall for 20 years probably!  My hero for family and LIFE!  He became Pope just a few months after we married in 1978 and was there for us till April 2nd, 2005!  That was the first 27 years of our marriage!  He changed the world and was so important in our marriage and the world we lived in as Communism fell and he spoke The Truth!
A picture I inherited from my mother of Mary protecting him when he was gunned down in an assassination attempt on May 13, 1981.  Yes, she saved him to go on for another amazing 24 years!!!  All that he accomplished in those years, including...

Blessing Ruth and Paul's marriage in Rome November of 2003!  "Please Bless us with a happy healthy family."  Paul asked and so the prayers continue to be answered to this day through the ups and downs of life!

Shortly after the birth of baby brother, Thomas Robert we did a photo shoot in front of the barn with sign welcoming him into the world!  He was held by his, soon to be, Godparents, Mary and Simon.  They will become officially his Godparents on Sunday after Simon is confirmed into The Catholic Church taking St JPII as his patron Saint!
So many hopes and prayers that as Godparents to their youngest brother they will be close and caring for him as he grows up on the farm and embracing his Catholic Faith!

Loved these amazing words today in Morning prayer on the Feast of The Presentation of Jesus in the temple by Mary and Joseph... In baptism we have been made the temple of the living God.  Let us welcome the Lord of glory in whatever guise he comes to us, receiving him in joyful prayer, in purity of heart, and in charity toward all.
Smiles and the sign on the barn now visible.
Such a beautiful sign of new LIFE given to their family - Open to LIFE and raising LIGHTS!  Such a glorious weekend ahead for our Domestic Church family - united in the Eucharist some in France, Fort Lewis, WA and also here in Marshall, MN!  The Holy Spirit is alive and at work!!!

Danielle Rose - See you in the Eucharist and explains it in her words.  She was entering the convent where she discerned for a number of years and now has come out to write her amazing music and is married with children...
Marrie with children in her Mamastery - Danielle Rose
Simon the oldest of his family is in the autism spectrum... many prayers for his future as he asks the Lord to show him the plan that he has for Simon Patrick St John Paul II Lanoue.  It will be perfect for him and we are all praying for him!
Grandma singing to 10 week old Thomas a few days ago about Jesus.  You are soon to enter The Church but not only that but you yourself become his temple!
Oh it is Jesus!

The Look of LOVE for his pretty pretty mommy!  How I love to see my grandkids love their mommies just as Jesus did his Mother!
An image of Zelie with her girls - all became nuns!  Wow!
A painting of what truly did happen although Therese's mother died before she could know this to be true!
I am thanking Therese for helping to love and appreciate her wonderful Patron Saint!  WE can never have too many saints to look to on our journey!
Now St JPII!  I know that he continues to work from heaven to end the horror of abortion and for the Church to be strong and healthy!
Jesus words to us for each day of the year - 352 times!
Food for the journey!
So much!!!
Give me the strength to go foward down the narrow path, O Lord!

Dad today - joined with the sacrifices of The Church!  I know that dad is working with St JPII to keep the Church strong - we are not to abandon the ship!
Saint Mother Teresa today shoulder to shoulder the St JPII fighting the good fight from heaven to protect family , LIFE and The Church!
So much here from Pope Benny today!  Jesus is the temple dwelling within us!
Brother Victor today making me light candles -

Candles are messengers of him who is both mystery and the Invisible One!

Hebrews 2 today in the second reading at mass... he had to become like his brothers and sisters
in every way,
that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest before God
to expiate the sins of the people.
Because he himself was tested through what he suffered,
he is able to help those who are being tested.  Hebrews 2
Beautifully wise words from Pope Francis today!
Hear our prayer, O Lord!  Jesus we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah
Feast of the Presentation of the Lord*
February  2

Today the Church celebrates the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple
at Jerusalem.  In that same spirit, we present ourselves today to the Lord,
especially in the Mass. Present yourself to Jesus today.
Receive His life-giving light and love.

“Simeon gave back Jesus to His Mother,
he was only suffered to keep
Him for one moment.

But we are far happier than Simeon.
We may keep Him always if we will.

In Communion
He comes not only into our arms
but into our hearts.”

St John Vianney

This Feast is also known as Candlemas Day,
since the blessing and procession of candles
is included in today's liturgy.

The symbolism of the candles is described
by Dom Prosper Guéranger, OSB, in his "Liturgical Year":

The mystery of today's ceremony has frequently been explained by liturgists, dating from the 7th century. According to Ivo of Chartres, the wax, which is formed from the juice of flowers by the bee, always considered as the emblem of virginity, signifies the virginal flesh of the Divine Infant, who diminished not, either by His conception or His birth, the spotless purity of His Blessed Mother. The same holy bishop would have us see, in the flame of our Candle, a symbol of Jesus who came to enlighten our darkness. St. Anselm, Archbishop of Canterbury, speaking on the same mystery, bids us consider three things in the blessed Candle: the wax, the wick, and the flame. The wax, he says, which is the production of the virginal bee, is the Flesh of our Lord; the wick, which is within, is His Soul; the flame, which burns on top, is His divinity.

The candles kept by the faithful in their homes should be seen
as a sign of Christ "the light of the world" and an expression of faith.

From the Pieta prayer book:
to pray while burning a blessed candle
in one's home during a storm:
Jesus Christ a King of Glory has come in Peace.+ God became man, + and the Word was made flesh.+ Christ was born of a Virgin.+ Christ suffered.+ Christ was crucified.+ Christ died.+ Christ rose from the dead.+ Christ ascended into Heaven.+ Christ conquers.+ Christ reigns.+ Christ commands.+

May Christ protect us from all storms and lightning. + Christ went through their midst in Peace, + and the Word was made Flesh.+ Christ is with us with Mary.+ Flee you enemy spirits because the Lion of the Generation of Judah, the Root David, has won.+ Holy God+ Holy Powerful God! + Holy Immortal God! + Have mercy on us. Amen.

“Christ Himself says, ‘I am the light of the world.’ And we are the light, we ourselves, if we receive it from Him.... But how do we receive it, how do we make it shine? ...The candle tells us: by burning, and being consumed in the burning. A spark of fire, a ray of love, an inevitable immolation are celebrated over that pure, straight candle, as, pouring forth its gift of light, it exhausts itself in silent sacrifice." Pope St Paul VI
Peter Mayer - Holy now
Danielle Rose has written a song for every decade of the rosary - this is the 4th Joyful - presentation in the temple

Gregorian chants - Salve Regina - Hail Holy Queen!
