With the spiritual reading I am blessed with this Lent - I am given so much to take to heart! I awoke early this morning convicted about some digging I need to do in my kitchen! So when I am done here... I am being called to get on my knees literally in the kitchen - bottom cupboards!
Baby Evie is now 5 with 2 younger siblings - Hector, who will be 3 in a few days, and Maggie Rose, who will be 1 in May!
In the I thirst 40 days with Mother Theresa - the author talked about being lukewarm towards those smaller sins that come between us and our Lord and Lady. So true! How I need to be more strict with myself especially in the evenings and more active with cleaning jobs during the day! The final quote from St Margaret Mary - "I will make tepid souls fervent." I need to listen to His Truth to me!
Ruth and Maria in the school that they attended, and now Ruth's children as well as John's will attend here!
Rose and Therese visiting St Maria Goretti in the hallway! She has always been a very important Saint to our children when we would read the Lives of the Saints in family prayer time - they would ask for her story over and over.
Evie at 4 months always wanted to stand up! With some of our shared art work - Therese and mine
Maria's kids know how to do housework! Therese also cares very much for her younger siblings - I would say that she changes more diapers than her mom- for Evie - her first sister after 3 brothers got the most of her attention and love!
Today the Gospel is calling of Levi/Matthew, the tax collector. "Follow me." Jesus calls him and his lfe is entirely changed for the better. Luke 5:32 continues - Jesus said to them in reply,
“Those who are healthy do not need a physician, but the sick do.
I have not come to call the righteous to repentance but sinners.”

I really appreciated the Meditation on the Gospel - "Follow Me." by Fr Donald Haggerty. He shares about Conversion as when Matthew followed Jesus and left his world behind - truly that was a conversion!
Conversion is the spark that allows a soul to catch fire with God. It strikes the flint and begins the early burning of a passion for God. It is the first step of flame that can quickly become a fire lasting a lifetime. Conversions are necessary for deeper spirituality, as many saints can testify... For being vanquished (totally defeated) by him is essential to all greater love for him.

How I have truly experienced that life changing conversion and the flame that burns for my lifetime! Now with my children married and being open to LIFE and raising LIGHTS, and taking their old mother deeper in my faith journey. With my nun married to her spouse, Jesus, and praying for her family morning and night and in between with Jesus on the altar in the monstrance! The Lord touches me over and over! I feel his hand upon me guiding me and leading me and reprimanding me out of LOVE!
Lord, I am yours! How I long to leave sin behind and allow nothing to come between us. May I die to self and allow your Spirit to come and dwell in my inner temple! That I may give without counting the cost! Jesus, I trust in you. Amen

In the life of St Philip Neri, we read that one day a young man who was leading a very impure life came to the saint to Confession. St Philip, knowing that there was no better remedy against concupiscence than the most sacred Body of Jesus Christ, counseled him to frequent the Sacraments. By this means he was in a short time entirely freed from his vicious habits and became pure like an angel.
Oh, how many souls have made the same experience! Ask any Christian who has once lived in sin and afterwards truly amended, from what moment he began to get the better of his passions, and he will answer, from the moment that he began to frequent the Sacraments.
How should it be otherwise? Jesus calms the winds and seas by a single word. What storm will be able to resist His power? What gust of passion will not subside when, on entering the soul, He says: 'Peace be with thee; be not afraid; it is I!’ The danger of mortal sin, however, arises not only from the strength of our passions, but also from the violence of the temptations with which the devil assails us; and against these, too, the Blessed Sacrament protects us."
