Another memory on this day just as covid was striking - Nancy explains the sudden First Communion of Augustine!

Surprise! Gus received his First Holy Communion tonight!
We went to mass as a family, arriving a little early for confession. Right before mass Fr K (of podcast fame🙂) asked if Gus wanted to receive tonight because Masses here might be cancelled tomorrow. Shocked, we talked to Gus and decided today was the day!
First kid ever to receive First Holy Communion a sweat shirt. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Not how we planned it, but Jesus was there, and that, of course is all that matters.
These are crazy times, but God is here, and He is working.
Prayers friends. !
His green sweatshirt fits in today!
2 years ago when we were not allowed to go to mass due to covid - Pictures to remind him to pray for his parishioners.
Saying mass with the people in spirit and in Truth!
Very powerful stuff from C.S. Lewis today- written 75 years ago but still applies today!
Since nuclear threats are rising again, I love the perspective offered here by C.S. Lewis in 1948 almost 75 years ago, but as relevant as ever.
“In one way we think a great deal too much of the atomic bomb. ‘How are we to live in an atomic age?’ I am tempted to reply: ‘Why, as you would have lived in the sixteenth century when the plague visited London almost every year, or as you would have lived in a Viking age when raiders from Scandinavia might land and cut your throat any night; or indeed, as you are already living in an age of cancer, an age of syphilis, an age of paralysis, an age of air raids, an age of railway accidents, an age of motor accidents.’
In other words, do not let us begin by exaggerating the novelty of our situation. Believe me, dear sir or madam, you and all whom you love were already sentenced to death before the atomic bomb was invented: and quite a high percentage of us were going to die in unpleasant ways. We had, indeed, one very great advantage over our ancestors—anesthetics; but we have that still. It is perfectly ridiculous to go about whimpering and drawing long faces because the scientists have added one more chance of painful and premature death to a world which already bristled with such chances and in which death itself was not a chance at all, but a certainty.
This is the first point to be made: and the first action to be taken is to pull ourselves together. If we are all going to be destroyed by an atomic bomb, let that bomb when it comes find us doing sensible and human things—praying, working, teaching, reading, listening to music, bathing the children, playing tennis, chatting to our friends over a pint and a game of darts—not huddled together like frightened sheep and thinking about bombs. They may break our bodies (a microbe can do that) but they need not dominate our minds.”

More around the farm! Joy with bare feet in March looking for eggs in the green hay pile!

Joy sure wants to have baby kitties here by her birthday - seeing that it is the last day of March that should happen by that time for sure!

It was exciting to see the Gospel today from Luke 16 - the rich man and Lazarus the poor man.  Reminding us that Lazarus is our neighbor and we need to share our love and prayers and be aware of their needs.  As mom's man, Dom Boylan...There can be no true union with God unless we love also our neighbor.  First of all, our neighbor is a member of the Body of Christ, and we do not truly love Christ, if we do not also love the members of Christ.  Secondly, Christ delivered himself for each of his members, and we, ourselves, cannot be united to Christ unless we share his love with them.  That is why he lays upon us the tremendous obligation to love one another as he has loved us.  We call it tremendous, for he loved us to the extent of laying down his life for us.

LOVE his use of Tremendous here!  The book my mother found as a Protestant minister's wife - This Tremendous lover   Through that book she groaned over Catholicism!
