Almost an inch of beautiful rain!/St Dominic today - Hallel and Dominic Patrick celebrate!/Preparing for our trip to Virginia

Praying with John overnight as our hours of Adoration overlap and we can pray with Jesus together after sharing from our hearts.  I was struck to see the incision indicating that biopsy John underwent 13 years ago to discover the type of brain cancer he was suffering from... Primary Central System Lymphoma!  They found a few cells to help them finally diagnose his rare cancer.  

As John prayed he spoke about how he can judge people from his "high chair" and then we giggled as it turned into an infant sitting in his high chair and throwing food... an instant humbling in prayer and so true!  

The new John with Jesus - sharing some interesting stories he had read about Mary interceding and protecting those that look to her whether with heartfelt passion or just going through the motions with some "Hail Marys" out of habit before bed still protecting from the Evil One!  John and I share a deep love and devotion to Our Lady!

Spirit Juice Video with his story - now with wife and family - the new John cares for his children while his wife works.  He is now officially disabled due to the whole brain radiation making it hard for him to hold down a job.  

Such a special close time in prayer from the last hour of Sunday into the first hour of Monday.  I than do my litany of our two families with over 250+ including all our losses and a new life in the womb.  "Jesus and Mary, I love you, save souls!"  

A glorious wonderful beautiful rain!  .8 of an inch in the rain guage!  We have not had this much rain in a couple months!  Prayers have been answered and we still need more, Lord!  

Thank you, Lord and Lady!  

Baby robbins under the roof by our bedroom door were snug while their mother was in the tree with rain on her and her letting us know that she was not happy to have us so close to her big babies.

Thirsty ground.  The creeks are still virtually dry and the cows come up to drink out of a water tank that Pat set up.

A big day causing me to be late here today!  Swim aerobics, Meals on Wheels, than so much time on line getting our transponder for the toll roads as we travel to Virginia with our trailer and pickup.  My nerves are on edge as it seems to be scary and uncertain as we head out in a little over a week to Charlottsville, Virginia.  Lord, we trust in you and ask you to be with us on the road.  

I was moved by this from Pope Benny today - It reminds me that The Church is indeed The Lamb sacrificed for us and depends upon the sheep dog/shepherd to protect it from the evil clutches of the world!  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah

The Miracle of Saint Dominic

 

    "During the ceremony of profession of the nuns of St Sixtus, there was a great excitement and a call for the saint to come out, since the nephew of one of the bishops who was acting with him in this case had just been thrown from his horse and was lying dead in the square outside. ...The body of the young man was brought in, badly mangled from the accident, and laid at the feet of the saint.  Dominic ordered them immediately to remove the body to another room.

 

    Once more life came back at his request; this time after he had offered the Holy Sacrifice.  Bystanders testified that during the Mass they had seen him raised above the ground.  There were hundreds of witnesses to the miraculous answer when he spoke to the dead youth and commanded:  "Young man, I say to thee arise."  The youth rose up joyful and with no sign of injury and was restored to his family.  This miracle was instrumental in bringing into the (Dominican) Order two of its most famous sons; they were the brothers, Hyacinth and Ceslaus, and were later to win great renown as the apostles of the North."

Manistique Light house for Light house day yesterday!

Today is the feast of St Dominic, who is very much celebrated in our family as we have a 7 year old grandson, Dominic, and also a Dominican nun - our Little Sister Hallel of The Community of the Lamb!  I am sure there is a huge celebration in France today and that Domo will get a happy meal to know that it is a very special day!  St Dominic was given the rosary prayer, and so much more!

He spoke with God or about God

Dominic possessed such great integrity and was so strongly motivated by divine love, that without a doubt he proved to be a bearer of honor and grace. He was a man of great equanimity, except when moved to compassion and mercy. And since a joyful heart animates the face, he displayed the peaceful composure of a spiritual man in the kindness he manifested outwardly and by the cheerfulness of his countenance.

Wherever he went he showed himself in word and deed to be a man of the Gospel. During the day no one was more community-minded or pleasant toward his brothers and associates. During the night hours no one was more persistent in every kind of vigil and supplication. He seldom spoke unless it was with God, that is, in prayer, or about God, and in this matter he instructed his brothers.

Frequently he made a special personal petition that God would deign to grant him a genuine charity, effective in caring for and obtaining the salvation of men. For he believed that only then would he be truly a member of Christ, when he had given himself totally for the salvation of men, just as the Lord Jesus, the Savior of all, had offered himself completely for our salvation. So, for this work, after a lengthy period of careful and provident planning, he founded the Order of Friars Preachers.

In his conversations and letters he often urged the brothers of the Order to study constantly the Old and New Testaments. He always carried with him the gospel according to Matthew and the epistles of Paul, and so well did he study them that he almost knew them from memory.

Two or three times he was chosen bishop, but he always refused, preferring to live with his brothers in poverty. Throughout his life, he preserved the honor of his virginity. He desired to be scourged and cut to pieces, and so die for the faith of Christ. Of him Pope Gregory IX declared: “I knew him as a steadfast follower of the apostolic way of life. There is no doubt that he is in heaven, sharing in the glory of the apostles themselves.”  From the Office of Readings today!
