Christmas on the road, at Nancy's , VCC today!/"God came as a baby because they are irresistible..."- "the Word became flesh"

Nancy's girls give us a wonderful Christmas gift in Delano.  Grandma got to do what she loves - doing little girl's hair!  After my 4 girls, it was impossible to not love making little girls look special with ribbons and bows!  The Baby Jesus gave me this gift, and it is truly all I wanted for Christmas.
Little one year old  Regina Maria crawled up to me in her Christms Jammie and smiled sweetly and then shared her radish garden toys with me.  All the hard parts of the day in the long silent trip to Delano melted away.  We were to have a quiet Christmas as today we gather for our big Verly Christmas Camp, but the Lord had other plans, and I am very grateful even with the angst.
Just the girls after we had shared a wonderful Christmas dinner made by Bill and Nancy.  Thank you!  Also thank you Jesus for moving us out of our comfort zone to be with family on this most beautiful day.
Just Pat and I shared 9p mass on a very cold snowy Christmas Eve.  So beautiful to lift us up!
A selfie on the altar...

Jesus in the stable - for 44 years this has been the nativity we have visited with our kids and grandkids and now just two aging people alone but together sharing our Faith.  Tonight will be anything but alone, as the chaos begins - the 32 gathering on the farm in our heated shop for VCC - Verly Christmas Camp.  I will be content to be sitting in the middle of it all taking it in and saying "it is accomplished."
Blessing our food at an unexpected Christmas Dinner at Nancy and Bill's with their 6 children!
When you think you will be without family for Christmas day - the Lord has other plans!

Home from our mass at Holy Redeemer - we discovered the Christmas Eve Mass at St Peter's beginning so... we watched it together!  Pope Francis in his homily speaks of what we learn from Jesus in the manger - turning our hearts, minds and hearts to the poor.  Pope Francis is a hero for the Poor!  He is a friend of our Little Sisters of the Lamb in Argentina and in Rome!  They are the Poor and beg for their food from the poor!

Welcome - Community of the Lamb

It is quite moving for me on the 51st Anniversary of my entering The Catholic Church as a 20 year old and with my entire family - all 13!  Watching this mass in Rome really was a powerful reminder to me of how blessed I am with each new day!

Family Soul Story - Choose Life!: The amazing story of the 13 becoming Catholic!

The lights from our Christmas tree on the TV screen added to the LIGHT filled JOY in my heart!

As we traveled I read from The Magnficat - Blessing from a Christmas Stable - No one, whether shepherd or wise man, can approach God here below except by kneeling before the manger of Bethlehem and adoring him hidden in the weakness of a new-born child."  (CCC 563)

I just realized that CCC is also and more importantly meaning the Catechism of the Catholic Church!  Not just Cross Christmas Camp!

Our youngest granddaughter until John and Bobbi have their baby in a few weeks entertained grandma as we unexpectedly went to Nancy's for some time in the afternoon.
6 year old Josephine dancing with her baby sister, Gina!
Christmas dance!
The reason for our JOY!

As I was reading to Pat on our trip - this reflection caused me to pause with deep feelings of sorrow!
You came as a baby because babies are irresistible and adorable.

They why are babies killed in the womb and even left to die when they survive an abortion?  LORD, help us!  How did it ever get this low?  The Gospel for Christmas day is John 1 - "The Word became flesh"
My JOY doing girl's hair!
10 year old Bernadette too!

I must go to joyfully get ready for our family to gather.  Lord, hear my prayer.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Bless-bless, Barbara and soon to be 32!  We can do this!
