One year old Tom and his first baby goat up close and personal in the house. He needs a kiss!
So tiny and sweet, and will need a lot of care from the family to keep him alive and growing.
9 years ago - Rose with her dad in the bright winter sun. There was more snow that year at this time.
My how the time is flying by. We are just a little over a week from our CCC - Cross Christmas Camp! I am from a family of 140+ on my side, and we have a tradition of meeting for a weekend at a Lutheran Camp by Amery, WI - Camp Wapogasset! It is the weekend before Christmas so this year it is Friday 16th- Sunday the 18th! Lake Wapogasset Lutheran Bible Camp » Places of Grace Forming People of Faith
It has been very special to share prayer by the Advent wreath, now with 2 candles lit for the 2nd week of Advent. Turning off the TV and sharing the readings and evening prayer is special for us to share.
The Gospel today is the beautiful reminder that we are to take on the yoke - sharing it with Jesus, but for me it also includes sharing it with my spouse of 44 years. I call him "My Most Cherished Cross." By embracing my Most Cherished Cross I find LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT!
Gospel Mt 11:28-30
Jesus said to the crowds:
“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am meek and humble of heart;
and you will find rest for yourselves.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”
My sister, Martha/Marty, is just 14 months younger than I am. We are the two oldest in our family of 11 children. We also both have 22 grandchildren! Here she and her husband are with the 5 children of their youngest daughter, Emily, on the occasion of the first birthday of the twin boys. Such a special picture of them, and it was nice to be able to share it here. When we gather in a little over a week for CCC - we always have Santa come after supper shared, and we start our time with Santa by sharing prayer requests to Baby Jesus with Santa. My sister and brother lead Christmas hymns that we also sing for Santa! LOVE how the reason for the Season is always the center point of our family time with Santa!
Pat reading from The WORD among us, which was given out at church for Advent. I put up my tree and The Nativity scene that Ruth gave me years ago.
Praying last night after a big day starting early with a trip to Sioux Falls for some dental work at 7a! We shared prayer on the road and shoppping for our big family gatherings coming up CCC and VCC!
Each year over the 44 years of marriage we have added an ornament a year - this one was on the occasion of our 2nd daughter, Nancy Anna in 1982! She had so much hair that it looked like a piece of fur on her head and she was dark complected - so we called her Nanuk of the North!
A special handmade ornament of Grandpa and Grandma from CCC! LOVE!
Now our first girl, Ruth Ida, who had a red jacket just like this. She is now 42!
Fr Denny at mass this morning on the Feast of St Ambrose! He preached about how we are to be yoked to Jesus so that we are working with Jesus. He had done some research about draft horses, and discovered that 2 yoked together and coordinated one to the other can pull 4x more than one alone.
Of course it is uneven with Jesus, but he wants to be part of our efforts. How I want Him to be part of everything that I attempt to do! I want all that I share to be as Jesus wants me to share The Truth - for he is The Way, the Truth, and The LIFE!
How true as the PEACE floods my heart, mind, and soul. Just back from another road trip I make on Monday and Wednesday to Balaton to deliver MOW. My first lady, Marie, and I love to spend time sharing and visiting. She is 20 years older than I am and so sharp and sweet!
How I long to be better in all I do with each new day!
St Nicholas visited Jude and Birdie yesterday! They were excited at this tradition of leaving out your shoes for St Nick to visit with small treats. Maria in Charlottesville with the St Nick gifts for the 7 kids!
Maria homeschools her kids and is an avid book collector - her library is amazing to see! Seeing is believing! She boxes them and unboxes them with each move - only one year here in Charlottesville, and then this summer to Leavenworth, KS! We will not be putting them in our livestock trailer again!
As you enter there home is a sign saying that This is a Catholic Home! YES!!
Baby Rose Again 10 years ago with her first topknot! An ornament on my tree in 1989 for my stillbirth, William, who was 20 weeks in my womb and I lost him around Thanksgiving. He and his brother, Robert, are buried at the cemetery - John lost 2 brothers, who would have been just younger than him. I wanted to have a large family, but only have 5 children here with me and 7 in heaven!
I found this second hand years ago, and never had the stand for it - always put it in the center of my tree.
1990 - we had just moved to our farm a few years previous and remodeled with green roofs and a white house. Ruth continues to this day, but has remodeled it for her family on the farm complete with a wonderful porch on the side!
Last years' ornament had to include our 3 new grandchildren for 2021! First day of CCC - Regina Maria will be one. Last year we took Nancy's older 5 kids as she was home with a new born baby girl. This year they will all be back, and will be joined by Maria's family coming from Virginia! All the Verlys will be at CCC - all except for Hallel in KCK. That means we will be about half there - 32 of the 66! WE love our CCC - Cross Christmas Camp!!
Ruth and Paul in Rome for their honeymoon in 2003!
"Through the womb of the woman, the world was saved." - Maggie Craig
St Ambrose so close to Our Lord and Lady!
He understood deeply the Truth!
My dad today in the Office of Reading in Isaiah - Its trust in you
This is Augustine's writing and dad's underlining to show me something amazing! Both my parents are with me to guide me with each new day in my prayer space and the books they each left behind for me! Wow!
Dad is united with these great Saints now in heaven forever!
Now beautiful words from mom and Pope Benedict XVI! Preparing us for the big Feast Day tomorrow of The Immaculate Conception of Mary... We find true freedom when we abandon ourselves totally to God!
Now Dad's Man, Brother Victor Antione!
In Christ you have everything you need! Thanks dad and Brother Victor! So true!
Birdie and some special treats she helped her mommy make and probably has a few in her tummy, too.
They will be at CCC I am sure. I am needing to get some Belgian Cookie dough for hubby to make them for CCC, too!
with everything we are looking for...
The LORD is my light and my salvation -
The LORD is the stronghold of my life -
