I was amazed that both times for his nap he would bring his blanket to me and I would lay him down without a whimper from him! Hubby, farmer Pat, says that it is because my house is so quiet and boring. I say that he needed to catch up on some rest in my "farm monastery."
Pat, my Most Cherished Cross, joined me for mass by the light of the 2 candles lit in the Adent wreath on the altar. Today is the feast of St Juan Diego, who in 1531 encountered a beautiful Lady in the snow -Our Lady of Guadalupe. Fr Tony shared in his homily that this humble man was able to share her wishes for a church to be built centered around her image on his tilma. She converted an entire nation of millions!Roses in winter as he opened his tilma to the Bishop that had prayed for the conversion - Our Lady of Guadalupe is the Patroness of LIFE as her black tie around her waist indicates that she is pregnant with the Son of God, Jesus!
The Cross overhead is so powerful as a life-size Jesus reminds us of his gift of Salvation to us! I admit that I have adopted my father's way of pointing out important points now in my mother's daily meditations by Pope Benedict XVI. I could not resist today as this phrase jumped out to me - "One single soul is worth more than the entire visible universe." Pascal I am familiar with Metanoia - a change of heart, but Metanoeite - a change of attitude was new!
My dad in his Prayer of The Church after being a permanent Deacon in The Church for 44 years, and after bringing our entire family of 13 into The Church 51 years ago his Christmas Eve! Each day since has been a gift to me! The Promise is Jesus in Eucharist and Word!
PEACE! How I love to find this even in the midst of the craziness that comes with the holidays! Sitting in the peaceful church this morning in the dark hours of predawn - joining to my Lord and Lady in prayer and sharing The Rosary - peace fills me and helps me to give my all to Jesus!
Dad's man, Brother Victor, each day allows me to share in his life as a monk. Today he helps us to repeat over and over with each beat of our hearts and breath that we take - "Come, Lord Jesus, come."Tom helping grandma fold the laundry...

Such a happy sweetheart! The red cups just seemed festive at this time of year.
Psalm 1 today from mass
He is like a tree
planted near running water,
That yields its fruit in due season,
and whose leaves never fade.
Whatever he does, prospers.
R. Those who follow you, Lord, will have the light of life. Psalm 1
Big pleading eyes and a bubble beard...
Our Lady always comes to the most humble - may we take that to heart, too!
Snow for Christmas with more to come over these days in the next week. How I am praying for safe roads for our family coming from Virginia - Maria with her 7 kids to arrive at CCC a week from today. Also for all of our family that are gathering at Camp Wapo a week from today. Prayers for safety and for people to be healthy, too! Lord, hear our prayers.
Jesus, may we place our trust in you and ask for safety for those traveling and a wonderful blessed family time as we gather in these next weeks. May there be healing and forgiveness as you have given us an ocean of unconditional LOVE and forgiveness. May we serve without counting the cost. Jesus, we trust in you. Bless-bless, Barbara and the 54 - 34 including 20 in heaven.

carry us on the impulse of Christ's love,
as easily as thistledown is carried on the wind;
that in the Advent season of our souls,
while He is formed in us, in secret and in silence -
the Creator in the hands of His creatures,
as the Host in the hands of the priest -

we may carry Him forth
to wherever He wishes to be,
as Mary carried Him over the hills
on an errand of love, to the house of Elizabeth.

the world less cold and more just."
Pope Francis
Advent Season of our souls - He formed us in secret and in silence. And that soul is worth more than the entire visible universe! Wow!
