Holy Innocents give us hope for all those 63 million innocents lost/VCC 2022 is snowy with wedding and funeral

The 32 last night after a full day with our family for Verly Christmas Camp!  Meals, rosary especially for our new grandchild soon to arrive, and all other needs including the travels needed by all to get to a wedding today near the Cities and a funeral here in the area.  That combined with the wind and snow to make it all complicated and 2022 a Christmas all of its own!
The crazy one that probably most expresses how crazy it all gets to be with so many and a true white windy winter in the prairie!  Yes, nerf guns are huge with more boys than girls.  Mary with her baby goat too!
Right in the middle of the shop as we are cleaning on Monday - I teased that this would be our Christmas tree with living ornaments.  It did eventually get moved and the shop did get powerwashed for use on the farm.
Joy with her kitten, Fluffy, after sledding behind the 4 wheeler yesterday.  Thankfully it did warm up from the below zero temps we had for the last week since CCC.  But it took a tremendous south wind to turn the temps and fill up our yard and make it impossible for Nancy's family to return as they had hoped last night.  This morning was much better, and they called to say that they were on their way to the wedding at 1p.
Our two youngest! I still want to get the 3 youngest together at our final event  -  a tubing party at Garvin Park.  We certainly have the snow for a good one this year!
Santa poses before he makes the 22 grandkids happy!
Hector is 3 1/2 and super happy!
8 year old Romeo is asked questions by Santa - do you believe in St Nick?  "Yes!"
5 year old Joyful JOY!
Regina is one and a bit confused but sweet to this big guy!
The girl group 2 are 6 years old and Joy is still 5 - they are all within 10 months from oldest to youngest.
The two gingers - cousins 8 year old Romeo and 5 year old Joy.
The group that are now all 10 with this year's castle bouncy house behind!  Their Joy is letting the air partially out and then climbing around inside or out.
The shop on Monday as we attempted to get it ready for VCC... we found that being this close to Christmas and during the week that it was hard to do and stressful, too.
Headed out to the cold snowy world for a couple days.
2 of the youngest watching the craziness of many hands cleaning the huge cement floors
Simon powerwashing and many on brooms sweeping it away.
Grandpa managing the clean up - a huge job by all!  Thank you!
Ready, set, go - the bouncy house is up and Hector is ready to rumble!
Inside and...
2 year old Birdie Barbara with her new puppy arrive for a big day!
10 year old Bernadette with her two youngest siblings - Regina and George arrive from Delano, stayed for the next big day of VCC, and were snowed in last night before they headed out early this morning for a wedding at 1p today!  It that kind of a year!
14 year old Therese from Charlottesville, VA was Ruth's main decorating help.  They were all taken down this morning after breakfast just 24 hours from start in the shop to finish!  Crazy, yet we did it!
16 year old Mary reflecting on VCC 2022.  She headed up a team in the Gingerbread competition, held her baby goat a lot, and was a good sport!
Tuesday morning - cold and snowy and crazy with 32 of us gathered for our 3rd Annual VCC just a week after my families CCC!

There are many emotions today as I was able to sit down and read my prayers after many days away.  It is the Feast of the Holy Innocents and of course the 63 million innocent lives lost in our country to abortion since it was legalized is heart wrenching!  There has not been a day that I have not prayed for the end of it as well as those lives in danger each day!
I found the antiphons for The Office of Readings comforting for all those many losses then in Bethlehem up to today around the world and through the horror of abortion.  Don't we all find some peace in knowing that they are with Our Lord and Lady?
More comfort from the reading for today in Morning prayer of The Church in dad's well worn prayer book he left behind for me!
Some jarring powerful words from dad's man, Brother Victor, which adds to our sadness at the state of the world on this day!
Lord and Lady, may our LOVE of LIFE at all stages end the horror of the culture of death.  Bless-bless, Barbara and the 34
Made by Bobbi 2 years ago when we went ahead and had our first VCC when everything else in the world was canceled.  A shining LIGHT for our family of remembrance and carrying forward into this different year that 2022 is.  Yes, we took down our camp in the shop today other than the bouncy house.  And took a day to nap and recollect.  Tomorrow we have a day at Garvin Park sledding hill, and then Maria and Major Joseph and their 7 leave early Friday morning for Charlottesville to officially end our time together.  Even managed to happen with storms of wind and snow, and a wedding and a funeral!  We can do it!
Our yard was FULL of snow this morning and even Pat got stuck trying to go to the farm. Paul and the pay loader came to the rescue!
The boys had fun playing on it this afternoon!
The payloader went down our road to break a trail for Nancy's family to get to their wedding.  One big drift on Hwy 7 and then pretty clear to get back to Delano!  Thank you, Lord!  We have been an continue to pray for safe roads for all the comings and goings!  Prayers answered so far.
Ending with Santa pictures - 3 1/2 year old George - Nancy's next to the youngest.
Farm baby Thomas Robert is 13 months and is Ruth's #7 and youngest.
Birdie is 2 1/2 and is John's youngest soon to be a big sister in a few weeks.  They had an ultrasound and the baby is big and ready to come.  We prayed a rosary for the baby's safe arrival.
16 year old Mary is Ruth's 2nd oldest of 7 and a wonderful farm girl.  Thanks to her - grandpa and dad are now goat farmers too!
Wonderful military granddaughter 14 year old Therese is Maria's oldest and has 6 younger siblings!  She is wonderful with babies and has been the best big sister imaginable to her younger siblings!  How we love our big crazy wonderful family!  Each LIFE is a gift of LOVE - it grows more with each one!
 I have loved you with an everlasting love;
I have drawn you with loving kindness.
Jeremiah 31:3

"It's a thirst of the heart of every creature that desires to be loved, and the love which can alone satisfy that craving is the Divine Love.

Let your heart delight in the love your God has for you, personally, individually. No soul ever in ardent fervor desires to unite herself to our Lord in Holy Communion, as our Lord desires to unite Himself to her.

So Holy Communion is a delight to your Infant Savior; because He loves you, oh, how immeasurably! He tells you in His heart-to-heart interview that He has become a little Infant so that you may love Him with a human love without fear."

St Katherine Drexel

Feast of the Holy Innocents (Childermas)
Feast Day - December 28

As recorded in the gospel of Matthew after the visit of the Magi, Herod, in fear, rage and jealousy, “ordered the massacre of all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity two years old and under” in an attempt to destroy his perceived rival, the infant Messiah.  The horror of the massacre and the devastation of the mothers and fathers led Matthew to quote Jeremiah: “A voice was heard in Ramah, sobbing and loud lamentation;Rachel weeping for her children...”(Mt 2:18).

Since the sixth century, on December 28, the Church has celebrated the memory of those children killed because of Herod's rage against Christ (cf. Mt 2:16-17). These innocent lives bear witness to Christ who was persecuted from the time of His birth by a world which would not receive Him. Liturgical tradition refers to them as the "Holy Innocents" and regards them as martyrs.

"Blessed are you, Bethlehem in the land of Judah! You suffered the inhumanity of King Herod in the murder of your babes and thereby have become worthy to offer to the Lord a pure host of infants. In full right do we celebrate the heavenly birthday of these children whom the world caused to be born unto an eternally blessed life rather than that from their mothers' womb, for they attained the grace of everlasting life before the enjoyment of the present. The precious death of any martyr deserves high praise because of his heroic confession; the death of these children is precious in the sight of God because of the beatitude they gained so quickly. For already at the beginning of their lives they pass on. The end of the present life is for them the beginning of glory. These then, whom Herod's cruelty tore as sucklings from their mothers' bosom, are justly hailed as "infant martyr flowers"; they were the Church's first blossoms, matured by the frost of persecution during the cold winter of unbelief." ~ St. Augustine
