Home again to mass, swim, blog, prayer space, plans for CCC/TRUST in the Lord Rock(LOVE of God)/Advent wreath time!

A double hug goodbye from Maria with her baby Maggie in her arms as we shared mass together at The Holy Comforter, and started on our 2 day journey home from Charlottesville, Virginia on Tuesday morning.  We are now home after a good trip back with good roads until we arrived close to home.  "We have returned to winter." hubby reported as we saw the white landscape and snowy icy roads.
Pat with Maria and her 6 younger kids - Therese was not with us as she was a bit under the weather.  Major Joseph had school at UVA.
Maggie is 18 months and got a sandwich hug and kiss from grandpa.
Birthday buddies - grandpa Pat and Romeo, who is now 8.
6 year old Evangeline Mary dances in her Elsa nightgown for grandma.
My last night after having the 3 youngest for the day while Pat, Maria and the 4 older ones went to DC to see some of what there is to see.
Major Joseph putting Maggie and 3 year old Hector to bed on our last night.  We had shared a nice supper and visit.
2 icies in one day for the 3 littles - they were spoiled as they have never had more than one a day!
"Grandma must really love me to give me 2 icies in one day!"  thought Maggie with her smile
Maria's kids love our applesauce - it is like dessert for them.  This is why we do the work for canning for our 6 families!
Maggie shoveling it in.  Our work is now to smile and share from our heart.
Therese and Maria in DC outside the Holocaust Museum.
They must have a trollie all to themselves for this dramatic scene.
Each day we shared mass as a family.  It truly felt wonderful to be back at mass this morning and realizing that only the travel days were missed.  Advent started on Sunday and now I was happy to be here to see the purple and the candle lit in the Advent wreath on the altar.  I will get my own out and put together after I am done here.
I smiled when I saw this on Facebook on a site promoting Italy as we had listened on our trip back to a book called Playing for Pizza by John Grishom.  It took place in Italy with many descriptions of Italian food including the first course like this one.
We arrived with the setting sun and our shaddow cast of our van as we neared home in the snow bank beside the road.
Now on the field in the cold winter of Minnesota.  We wore only sweaters in Virginia and the weather was about 50 degrees each day.  There were even trees with leaves on them still, and blooming flowers in some flower beds too.
Back for Advent with the first candle lit at mass this morning and the purple curtain in front of the tabernacle.

Much of the readings today speak of Trust in the reading from Isaiah.  Trusting in the Lord the Eternal Rock!  Of course, the Gospel needs to be about how when we do the will of the Father - we are building our lives upon the Rock - Fr Tony reminded us that the LOVE of God is the Rock upon which we stand with Jesus, and we will find PEACE.

“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them
will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.
The rain fell, the floods came,
and the winds blew and buffeted the house.
But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock..."  Matthew 7

More from DC on Monday with Pat, Maria, Therese 14, David soon to be 13, Patrick 10, and Romoe 8
The Lincoln Memorial - Pat could not get over how huge this was, and yes, he thought of Forest Gump.
Romeo having a snack with many thoughts filling his head after the Holocaust Museum.  As Patrick asked over and over; "How can this happen?"
The LOOK!
Amazing sights at the Smithsonian Museum.
Sharing heaven here on earth each day as we attended mass with Jesus in Body, Blood and Word.  As we were reminded yesterday on our travels - sharing morning prayer, rosary, and the Readings for the day on the Feast of St Andrew - "The Gospel is a river of LIFE-giving Water for us on our journey of Faith/Family/Farm.

How I love sharing prayer on the road as we look out on the highway stretching ahead of us for hours and hundreds of miles - we can pray for ALL our needs on our hearts and minds and souls.  Hubby Patrick names each of our grandchildren in prayer, and I usually have tears as I remember many on my heart and our huge families with the many needs that comes with 140+ on my side and probably around 100+ on Pat's.

I just had a wonderful back and forth with a nephew's wife, who is making shirts for our family gathering of CCC in a few weeks.  It really got me stirred up and excited for our wonderful weekend the weekend before Christmas in a wonderful Lutheran Bible Camp - Camp Wapogasset in Amery, WI!

Grandma took the kids to the library while mom was gone.  Allowing the kids to push Maggie didn't work too well. 3 year old Hector was too short to steer, and Evangeline let go of the stroller and allowed it to go down the hill alone.  Yikes!!
A Big teddy to give a hug - kind of nuts as all the librarians had on masks and then they allow the kids to come along and hug a huge bear.  I don't get it!
Library time - do you want me to read you books?  I guess not.
Nap time - grandma sanity time.  "I can do this."
LORD, Our Rock, hear our prayers for the respect for ALL LIFE from conception to natural death!
LOVE her Black and White!  Our Most Cherished Cross!
LOVE!  Jesus, may I die to self so that you may use my hands and feet and voice to share your Truth and bring LIGHT into the world!
So hard and so true.
He could bi locate!

Lake Superior.  I love the Great Lakes after going to Lake Michigan every summer and these last 15 years too!
9 years ago today was the First Sunday of Advent and baby Luke's one month birthday.  He was recently on Nov 1 - 9 years old!  I wrote that he was awake for the entire mass recognizing the LIGHT of Jesus all around him as we are given a time in heaven at each mass!
St Mother Theresa of Calcutta today!  We are so blessed to have forms of Jesus blessing us every day- Word, Body and Blood and one another!
Pope Benedict XVI today!
Dad's man, Brother Victor, today about St Charles de Foucauld ... talk about humble!
"...Jesus took for all the lowest place so completely that on one has ever humbled himself lower that he did."  Wow!

Jesus, may I die to self and serve without counting the cost.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Bless-bless, Barbara and the 34 of 140+ from my side and 100+ from Pat's

"Our entire existence, our whole being must
shout the Gospel from the rooftops.
Our entire person must breathe Jesus,
all our actions.

Our whole life must cry out that we belong to Jesus,
reflect a Gospel way of living. Our whole being
must be a living proclamation, a reflection of Jesus."

"The goal of every human life
should be the
adoration of the Blessed Sacrament."

St Charles de Foucauld
Priest, Martyr ~ 1858-1916
nee France ~ Missionary in the Sahara of Algeria
Inspiration and writings led to the founding
of the Little Brothers of Jesus congregation
Feast Day – December 1
Blessed Charles de Foucauld and six others
 were canonized 15 May 2022!

Charles returned to the Faith, after living an immoral life.
Regarding his conversion, Charles said,

"The moment I realized that God existed,
I knew I could not do otherwise than to live for Him alone.
…My religious vocation dates from the same moment as my faith:
God is so great.  There is such a difference
between God and everything that is not."

Prayer of St Charles de Foucauld: both prayed and lived...

Father, I abandon myself into Your hands; do with me what You will. Whatever You do I thank You. I am ready for all, I accept all. Let only Your will be done in me, as in all Your creatures, I ask no more than this, my Lord. Into Your hands I commend my soul; I offer it to You, O Lord, with all the love of my heart, for I love You, my God, and so need to give myself - to surrender myself into Your hands, without reserve and with total confidence, for You are my Father.
