Craziness of life!

Using pictures of Christmas camps past - mostly in '98... I will let you know that the first piece of equipment has now broken and Pat is on his way an hour away to get the part... I almost can smile at how predictable this is! It seems like little gremlins are always working at making leaving next to impossible!  Why is it always such a hard thing to leave the farm behind?  As I say... we are planted and it is abnormal to take your roots out of the soil and transplant anywhere... even just for 3 days!
Here is my sister and her husband at the State Park just up from where our camp has been in Onamia for many years... this year we will be in the snowy wonderland in Amery, Wisconsin!  I am sure that the snow pictures will abound!  One thing different this year from all those years of waiting for Pat to fix all the things that go wrong before we leave... He has me and my daughter taking the 5 grandkids and leaving at noon so that we can drive the 5 hours in daylight and the kids can have some fun there this evening before we put them all to bed... So I will miss the drama of getting my farmer to leave the farm behind!
Yes, no matter how old... the grandkids and now all the great grands get to sit on Santa's lap!  Always the photo op with parents up there to capture the perfect shot!  I will breath a sigh of releif when we are safely there, and I can just sit and catch up with my siblings and siblings in law... with the 5 grandkids... I think that will be on hold until Nancy and Bill show up and maybe John...
Probably Christmas Camp '91... I had sewed in corderoy with flowers that year... I even made John's suit!  How did I do it?  I now see that I was probably highly stressed in the house too...leaving a disaster in the dining room/sewing room... Today my half done Christmas cards and my scrapbooks after gathering these old pictures to scan is what is littering my dining room table!  Some things just change but then don't change... My philosophy today is revealing the shakey place I am finding my insanity today...
Back to '98... I am now sitting here while I should be doing the cleaning and the packing!  I think you know how derranged my priorities are... My family walks past me and sighs and the grandkids running around is driving me slightly nuts!  Of course, today grandma is the person that they most want to be with!  Gremlins are everwhere!
This is bordering on the ridiculous... I will make it short and concentrate where I need to... so that we can hit the road in an hour!?!
I thought that this in morning prayer was a good place of the kind of zoo I am in today;  "The time grows short, the messenger's cry urgent: The Lord is very near!  Those who hope to delay his coming until "later, when I have time to get ready' find this late Advent cry disconcerting.  Those who look for him not only in the past but in the present and the future rejoice at the news:  God's promises are kept within the boundaries of time."  see http://www.magnificat.com/
A classic of my folks... Dear Lord, thank you for all the craziness of life that makes us appreciate the "peace" that passes understanding when we are blessed with it!
Last night as Maria and I were getting supper ready the kids were calling to her over and over..."momma, momma." and holding onto her legs... with all the commotion of making supper plus that...when they were at the table quietly eating and the noise had gone... how we reveled in the peace, but if it hadn't been for the loudness of life... the peace wouldn't have been nearly  so peaceful - once again my philosophy from this perspective of on the edge!
I found this wonderful torn picture of my brother in law with 2 year old Audrey the first Christmas after my sister had died of cancer - his wife, Mary... 1986... It was small and far away and to zoom in and have this gift is cherished! Thank you Lord for this crazy hunt for old pictures at the worst time possible to give this to me!
Jesus, Mary, Joseph, all the angels and saints.. surround us and get us in one piece to Christmas camp... with all 5 litttle ones!  WE need the army with us today and we ask that you be with all those families that are frantically gathering to celebrate you and family!  Jesus, we trust in you!  Amen and Halleluia!
Bless-bless, Barb
"Then shall all the trees of the forest exult before the Lord, for he comes to rule the earth.
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his kindness endures forever; And say,'Save us, O God, our savior, gather us and deliver us, That we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in praising you.'  Blessed be the Lord, the God of Isreal, through all eternity!  Let all the people say, Amen!  Halleluia."
