"The wise virgins seek Christ, who is the wisdom of God. Today's readings urge us to seek Christ at all costs and to be prepared for the joy of finding him, the source of all wisdom, at unexpected moments and in unexpected places." See morning prayer...

Part of the amazing Christmas stocking Nancy is making for Augustine!
I am low on thoughts and the words to express them this early morning... before heading off to work. I will attend mass this evening with my husband and his mother...
A windy day picture... it has been windy now for 3 days! One of my favorite writers is sharing the meditation of the day in my Magnificat about "Sure of Finding the Bridegroom"
"Are you at peace in the midst of painful challanges of life and of suffering? I am talking about substantial, deep peace, compatible with agitation, with all our daily upsets. May God grant you that grace, may he make you see in his pure light what he wants for you and what you can do for his glory and for those who are do dear to him.

"The will of God! That is the only important thing under whatever form it presents itself, often that which is the most repugnant to our nature. This dear, good God is a marvelous artist; he knows how to knead us, to work us in view of the work that he wants to do in us and through us.

"Everything is good to him: suffering, illnesses, the events of our lives, the joy even, when he wishes it, although that is not the usual way. He detaches us from the world, from ourselves, from spiritual consolations, and leads us to loving him alone and into the happiness of which he is the principle, without any searching for his gifts. When you have left everything for him, you are sure of finding him, aren't you?
"Let us unite our sufferings,our self-denial, our sacrifices: let us pray a lot; let us act in complete union with our Lord; and let us ask him to use our poor gifts for those we love and for his Church."
Elizabeth Leseur (1914)

Gus gets his first taste of squash from the garden... Jesus, may we be like the wise virgins always looking and following you with our lamps lit with the oil of "personal virtue." We would need to be always turning away from sin, and embracing the virtues... to have our lamps lit and be welcomed by our loving Bridegroom into the feast! With each new day we look to our faith in you and the many blessings and graces received from your One True Church! We long to come to your table and be fed in the Eucharistic Celebration where heaven and earth meet! We are yours... we love you and no matter what we suffer...we turn to you! When we are weak is when we turn to you,so make us always weak and lowly. Jesus, we trust in you! Amen and Halleluia.

Bless-bless, Barb
"Make us know the shortness of our life
that we may gain wisdom of heart.
Lord relent! Is your anger for ever?
Show pity to your servants.
In the morning, fill us with your love;
we shall exalt and rejoice all our days.
Give us joy to balance our affliction
for the years when we knew misfortune.
Show forth your work to your servants;
let your glory shine on their children.
Let the favor of the Lord be upon us:
give success to the work of our hands,
Give success to the work of our hands."
Psalm 90
