Mercy

Today in the Gospel Jesus asks us to give "Mercy, not sacrifice."   This was an illustation by my 7 year old granddaughter, Mary, for my mother's wonderful book called Treasures... It is the young girl, Suzanne, praying in Church in front of the tabernacle for the healing of her young friend, Cindy, who is dying from Leukemia.  The stainglass windows are beautiful, but as Mary was explaining them to me - most powerfully significant - revealing the depth of Mary's LOVE and understanding of her Church and all that is there to help us on our journey called LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT!  The window with the heart - is the Merciful heart of Jesus with the crown of thorns around it.  The red flames coming from the bottom of the window are the hard and evil things that come to hurt us and take us away from Christ, and the orange/gold is His LOVE and Mercy that surrounds us and protects us from harm.  The other with the beautiful flower is for our Lady and from Our Lady as we grow in the garden of our Faith nurtured by our glorious True Church!  I was marveling at her descriptions and understanding of Faith that glows forth from her!  The most wondrous blessing I can imagine and hold most closely in my heart is that we share Faith as a family and take passing that on to the next generation very very seriously!'
Lord, how we long to worship you totally and completely YOURS without any reservations!  We know that you are in control and we need to give all to YOU!  We find true happiness and peace when we allow your Mercy to forgive all our sins and weaknesses and in return forgive those that we live with in our domestic Church/family.  We find those that we love the most and are the closest to - those are the ones we struggle to forgive - small things become huge boulders that block our way forward down the narrow path carrying our Most Cherished Cross!  We need to look to your example, O Lord, and be meek and humble of heart.  There is truly freedom as we look to You, who are our Way, our Truth, and our LIFE!  Jesus, we trust in YOU. Amen and Halleluia
Bless-bless, Barb
