The Marys are a gift to us!!

It has already been 3 months since we had Hallel home in the midst of a huge April snow that snowed our family in together for very close and personal sharing.  I know that it was exhausting for Hallel, who lives a contemplative LIFE at the feet of Jesus...much like Mary in the Gospel yesterday.  There are many times that I have heard people find fault and criticize those that spend their lives in prayer and contemplating our Lord/their spouse in Word and Sacrament and Adoration - "But what do they do to earn their keep or to put food on the table or to serve the world?"  Much like Martha yesterday complaining to Jesus that she needed help with the work and wanted to pull Mary away from listening and taking to heart the teachings of the Lord as she sat at His feet.  Just as He told Martha that this was important and would not be taken away from Mary - so also does He love and protect those that have given their lives to becoming His Word Made Flesh and taking it out with them as they beg for their food from the poor!
Maria also looked to a contemplative order of Poor Clare Nuns when she considered religious LIFE!  She just posted this wonderful picture of Patrick visiting them when they were here in April to see Hallel.  They stopped in for a visit as they were very instrumental in praying for Patrick's healing.  You see they spend their days in prayer for the needs of the world, and we called them right away to be praying for our Patrick.  For after a traumatic birth - he was born dead and brought to new LIFE and was the sickest baby in NICU in El Paso with a cool cap on his head for the first 3 days of life to prevent brain injury.  He is now very much the picture of health, and we claim him as a healing!  Maria spoke very eloquently of these women being "Mary" in this day and age - showing us that truly we are called to sit at His feet and that prayer is so important and needed for this world!
Such beauty and such JOY!  Today is the feastday of another amazing Mary - Mary Magdalene!  She shows us how we are to stand at the foot of the Cross remembering how Jesus loves and forgives us - unconditionally!!!  Some say that she was that heart-rendering woman who washed the feet of Jesus with her tears and wiped them with her hair!  So powerful in that deep appreciation and LIFE-changing forgiveness and healing that happened to Mary Magdalene, from whom Jesus had driven out 7 demons!  To be possessed and controled by 7 demons is about as oppressed as anyone could possibly be - to be freed from those would be like becoming a bird and flying up into the air after being buried deep in the darkest hole!  So wonderful to look to the Marys from the Gospels and take heart as women that can sit at the feet of Jesus throughout our day and gain strength and healing there, as we lift up those that have been given to us in our domestic Church/family.  Praying for those that we have been given is the most important job we have as wives and mothers, and sharing our Faith with them in our amazing True Church!
Lord, we are yours - we love you and need you to heal us and bring us out of darkness into your glorious LIGHT!  We are held down and away from you by the demons of this world that lie and deceive us.  Your touch and example to us from the Marys of the last few days and most importantly the LIFE-giving Yes of your own Mother, Mary Most Holy!  She shows us how we are to embrace YOU in our lives and carry you forth to bring LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT into this world around us - most especially in our domestic Church/family!  Jesus, we trust in YOU. Amen and Halleluia
Bless-bless, Barb
Happy Birthday yesterday, Paul!  We are so blessed to have you for a son-in-law - you are truly a glorious LIGHT to the world - a wonderful husband, father, farmer, and Christian man of God.  Know of our prayers for you each and every day, as well as our LOVE!  Jesus, hold Paul close to your heart burning with LOVE for him.  Jesus, we trust in YOU.

Put Jesus first in your life and all the rest will fall into place!

Praying for John this week, who is directing a retreat for 30 boys from our diocese
