It is a great joy for me to watch my girls with their growing families. Having had 4 daughters - 3 now are mothers and the youngest is a Little Sister in France. It is a great blessing for me to have the closeness of having all these girls - one that just lives 3 miles away - when it comes to all the help they give me in all the big jobs that come with summer on the farm. We all just had a huge canning day of corn with 4 generations working side by side to do 15 pails of sweet corn! Today we will do our first tomato canning - Salsa! I will keep this brief, but my heart and soul is bursting with the greatness we are given on this day of celebration - we are so blessed to have our Spiritual Mother always with us on our journey to heaven -"precisely because Mary is with God and in God, she is very close to each one of us. While she lived on this earth she could only be close to a few people. Being in God, who is actually 'within' all of us. Mary shares in this closeness of God. Our Lady knows our hearts, can hear our prayers, can help us with her motherly kindness. She always listens to us and, being Mother of the Son, participates in the power of the Son and his goodness. We can always entrust the whole of our lives to this Mother." Pope Benedict XVI
Jesus, with your Mother at your side... we are so much in need of your love, care, and protection. We are helpless and tiny humble children of Faith. We are just learning to walk and keep falling and hurting ourselves as we sin and find the darkness surrounding us. May we look up from the ground and see the LIGHT ahead and walk holding our Mother's hand into the LIGHT. May the Truth be embraced - Our Most Cherished Cross - which brings us to newness of LIFE. May we humbly love and serve you by serving those in our domestic Church/family without counting the cost. In your Magnificat in the Gospel today, O Queen, you reminded us that we must truly be like little children to love and follow down the narrow path. "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my Savior for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed: The Almighty has done great things for me and holy is his Name. He has mercy on those who fear him in every generation. He has shown the strength of his arm, he has scattered the proud in their conceit, he has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly." Luke 1:39-56 We so need to remember that we are nothing without the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, and we know that Our Spiritual Mother is there to take us by the hand and lead us ever stumbling into the LIGHT of LIFE.
