I came down with the flu overnight, so I had a sheet door put up to keep the kids out and the bugs with me... Dominic liked my quiet place away from the others ... just grandma and Dominic time!
Some time to talk to Pat today and get more info about their time at Mayo yesterday. "They were all in a good mood and thought that they didn't need to do MRIs any more unless there are red flags. They told John that his sense of humor, which they all enjoy so much, is a sign of intelligence. It was a good visit. Dr Micalaf said that John should speak to camp courageous - young Catholic kids. She also said that she should be Penelope in his book and Dr ONeil should be Dr Squinty." It sounds like it was a great time, and John left there happy as well as sharing the joy with all his doctors, who have been with him over these last 6 1/2 years!
My sweet little companion as I crawled out of the hole called the stomach flu. It certainly helped to have this guy happy to spend time with his grandma.
Needless to say - it was costume morning around here, and Berna was spider girl with Dominic with his super hero cape made from a T-shirt! Cheering up a under the weather grandma... I caught the bug that has gone through all of us except for Gus.
This stocking hat is 35 years old! I wore it when I was pregnant with his mom. He is sad looking because he is wanting to go out and play with his siblings.
Today the first reading is David defeating Goliath. How important it was for us 6 years ago while in Rochester for John's stem cell transplant. All those that worked with my 20 year old son called him a "rockstar" as he seemed to sail through all that was thrown at him as he was young and strong in every way. He continues to be healed - now 6 years without cancer! His one desire is to follow the plan the Lord has for him and share his message of healing and finding Faith through brain cancer... now sharing that message of the power of prayer as he assists others in their needs.
The Psalm today is one of the Hallel psalms, and speaks of how we are to be prepared for the battle;
Blessed be the Lord, my rock,
who trains my hands for battle, my fingers for war.
My refuge and my fortress,
my stronghold, my deliverer,
My shield, in whom, I trust,
who subdues my people under me.
Blessed be the Lord, my rock.
Bless-bless, Barb
I miss my best hour I spend all week in Adoration... someday my life will slow down and I will return to my new home.
Lord, hear our prayers!
