Ask, seek, knock... find the Holy Spirit!

This was a banner day for the Holy Spirit in our lives... My dad ordained as a permanent deacon in The Catholic Church just 4 1/2 years after we swam against the tide and all 13 of us joined The Catholic Church!  It was the first class of deacons ordained in the Arch Diocese, and was designed just for him as he answered the call of the Holy Spirit to enter the Church and leave behind his ministry!

My dad could now do everything he did as a Protestant minister in The Church... marry, bury, baptize, preach... everything but consecrate the mass or hear confessions!
My parents together still and just a week ago after we had shared mass together!  How I love to have time with them in their peaceful haven in St Croix Falls, WI!

Yes, the Gospel today does tend to bring to mind all those issues and needs that we lift up in prayer daily and see only minimal results or none at all.  But if you read to the end of the reading... he is Promising to "give The Holy Spirit to those who ask him."  Luke 11  The faces of the Holy Spirit in my life are many and I am overwhelmed by all the ways I have been directed by it over and over and over and over!   I see The Holy Spirit at work in my life each day!

My wonderful husband with his arms full of little ones that look up to him... a common and heartwarming sight for me!  He set us on the path of Truth when inspired by the Holy Spirit he answered my question if we were being selfish to be open to family - "The world needs lights!"  Yes!!!  Being open to life and raising lights has become the Truth we live by in our domestic church/family!
A true Holy Spirit moment!  Pat with 3 of our 5 in KC a few days ago.  Our daughter, Susan/Little Sister Hallel has returned to live in the U.S. for the first time since she left to join her Community of the Lamb 9 years ago!  We are thrilled and excited at what this year will hold for her, and the opportunity to get a real hug from time to time.  Mostly we are thrilled to see her smiling face and to know that she will be helping other American young women answer the call to say "yes" to the personal call of Christ to be his!

Each day we continue to seek, ask and knock and through Jesus in Word and Sacrament we are blessed and filled with insights into The Truth that will set us free as he answers our plea for the Holy Spirit!  How I love to follow the example of Hallel's Community and read the readings for the next day the night before!  He speaks to me and the Holy Spirit is as work in our lives!

Jesus, be with the farmers... "we are starting to combine" just came to me from my husband.  Thank you for always being there as we find The Holy Spirit in each new day.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah
Gus telling his family of the Lamb about being in Kindergarten this year!  Such a lucky boy to have his family filled with so many that LOVE and follow Jesus and His Bride, The Church!  Bless-bless, Barbara Luke
At home in Church?
Telling little brother Clement about his first months in Catholic School!
