In Lourdes after John had bathed in the waters and hand them pour water over his head "because that is where I need the healing!" Hallel had just taken her habit and changed her name a few days before.

When I laid eyes upon this picture after our return from a miraculous trip to France just 2 months after John's diagnosis of brain cancer... I saw John on the cross of finding his faith through brain cancer! He did not carry that cross alone, but found peace and yes - joy in the midst thanks to the hundreds of prayers he was surrounded by and having his family there to carry him.

I was so excited to realize that today is the feast of St Fautina and with her comes the wonderful gift we have from her sharing with us the love and mercy Christ has for us! I am soon to go to the best hour of my week/Adoration of my Savior in the monstrance, and in that hour and a half of prayer I am blessed with The Chaplet of Divine Mercy on which I pray not only for those facing death, but also for my dead. The first decade is more powerful than ever for me as now my mother-in-law, Anna, has joined her husband, Gerry, who proceeded her by 20 years... together now!
Another picture that was used in his promo video taken when we were in France! After John's biopsy he had ataxia on his left side and could not walk alone. (A funny story here... John's luggage got lost for a few days and he had to borrow some of the blue clothes of some of the little brothers.)
St Faustina's words which appear on the bottom of her vision picture of Jesus with his rays coming from his merciful heart...."Jesus, I trust in you." have become my constant companion along with the Trust in Him that John has learned on his journey and we also. These words came to us from our Bishop LeVoir on caringbridge after we had received devastating news of John's cancer growing fast through the chemo! We were terrified and there was talk of that radiation on his brain, which we did not want for fear of that dementia John's speaks of in the video.
Bishop wrote these words to us; "When in times of difficulty like this, repeat these words; 'Jesus, I trust in you.' " Yes! We trusted and went ahead with the radiation and the cancer came to an end! We also had an entire week of prayer - all 168 hours - which gave us peace and the ability to Trust!
From the Gospel today as Jesus entrusts the great mission to us... "Peace to this household... the Kingdom of God is at hand!" Yes, we need to start in our homes sharing the LIGHT of Truth with JOY! That is truly our domestic Church/family where the seeds are planted and we bear fruit for the world. LIGHTS for the world!
Jesus, how we love you and long to experience that Kingdom of God in our midst, in our family, in our Church, in our day to day lives with You! Jesus, we truly do trust in you and know that your Mercy is always there for us and that we are called upon to return that to those around us, most especially those the closet to us. Jesus, we trust in you. Amen and Hallelujah
Some precious time with baby Joy last night. I get her ready for bed and she nuzzles on my shoulder and takes a nap. Pat and I watch the 6 kids of Ruth and Paul so that they can go and change lives by their example of a young couple living their faith and having a joyful domestic Church/family where they share their faith. St. Faustina Prayer
Today, October 5, the Church celebrates the feast day of St. Maria Faustina Kowalska (1905-1938). She was baptized with the name Helena and was one of ten children born to a devout, peasant farming family in Poland. She grew up during the tough years leading up to and following the first World War, and received little formal education. She worked as a poor housekeeper before following her religiou...s vocation at the age of 20, entering the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy in Krakow. There she was given simple, humble jobs which hid her deep interior life. St. Faustina was graced with mystical visions and revelations from Jesus, as well as her Guardian Angel and certain saints. Jesus gave her the mission to proclaim his infinite, powerful, loving mercy to the whole world, especially to hardened sinners and those facing the hour of their death. St. Faustina, as Jesus' "secretary and apostle of Divine Mercy", faithfully recorded these messages in great detail in a nearly 700-page diary. In it she promoted devotion to the Divine Mercy of Jesus Christ as instructed by Our Lord himself, now famous throughout the Church, and a great consolation for many souls who would otherwise fear to approach God because of their burden of sin. She died at the age of 33 from tuberculosis. Pope St. John Paul II made St. Faustina the first saint of the new millennium. #BecauseFaithMatters
