Joy at mass today snuggled in her grandpa Pat's coat... she found that button in the perfect spot to chew on, too. I adore his huge farmer hands cradling lovingly his children and grandchildren over our soon 40 years of marriage! My heart flutters with warmth and LOVE!
Discovering the glorious side feast day/trumped by the 6th Sunday of ordinary time... today of Our Lady of Lourdes! My parents called me to update me on my mother's health concerns and brought to mind that they had used Lourdes water to anoint her this morning. Asking for prayers for the Verly clan. When I sent that out to the family, Nancy responded that Bill's beloved grandfather died this morning. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family.
Two pictures required... before mass than the camera was put away, I promise!
The Gospel today of the healing of the leper... He could not hold it in but broadcasted every where that Jesus had touched his unclean body, mind and spirit and healed him/made him clean... so that Jesus was mobbed wherever he went. "He remained outside in deserted places,
and people kept coming to him from everywhere." Mark 1 These words seemed to be deep and have so much to say to me today.
Looking at how Jesus sends his mother to us in this world since he left for heaven forever... Lourdes commemorated today is a place of rocks and mud and "deserted" , and a young poor girl, Bernadette, was collecting firewood in this desolate place where Mary appeared to her she called herself "the Immaculate Conception."

Happy Feast Day
Our Lady of Lourdes
Feast Day: February 11
Patron saint of bodily ills
On February 11th, 1858 Our Lady appeared to St. Bernadette in the cave of Massabielle, Lourdes, France. This began a series of apparitions. During the vision on the 25th of March, she told Bernadette, “I am the Immaculate Conception.” Lourdes is one of the most frequented Marian Shrines in the world. It is known as a place of healing, with over 60 miraculous cures that have been recognized by church authorities.
Thinking about the deserted winter mountainous landscape in Mexico where Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared to poor humble Juan Diego... It seems that we need to be away from all the distractions of life and humble to be open to Christ coming to us and in a beautiful way through his Mother!!!

26th WORLD DAY of the SICK
"May the Virgin Mary intercede for this Twenty-sixth World Day of the Sick;
may she help the sick to experience their suffering in communion
with the Lord Jesus; and may she support all those who care for them.
To all, the sick, to healthcare workers and to volunteers,
I cordially impart my Apostolic Blessing." - Pope Francis
David, Rose and Luke help clean up after caramel rolls after mass this morning. It is their habit to get a cart and clean up each Sunday! Great for them to serve naturally!
“All the shrines of Mary,
scattered throughout the world,
have become above all
centers of devotion to the Eucharist,
as if the Mother of Jesus had appeared,
here or there,
in order to lead the faithful to the
adoration and love of her blessed Son.”
Pope St John XXIII
Stopped over at the farm after mass to see the 14 cows that we got yesterday from Colman, SD! The orange tags are them. It looks like they are fitting right in! It is fun to know that they came from Colman where my dad was a deacon for 3 years '95- '98. They will have their calves in the next few weeks along with Pat and Paul's 170 cows! Calving is on the doorstep!!!
*Lourdes, France, has become a place of pilgrimage and healing, but even more of faith.
It is a continuation of Jesus’ healing miracles. Many who visit Lourdes return home
with renewed faith and a readiness to more generously serve God.
There still may be people who doubt the apparitions of Lourdes. Perhaps
the best that can be said are the words that introduce the film, Song of Bernadette:
"For those who believe in God, no explanation is necessary.
For those who do not believe, no explanation is possible."
Adventures on the farm... never a dull moment.
Jesus, we come to you in those "deserted places" humbly asking that you heal our wounds and inner struggles. We leave behind all that comes between us and lay our sins before you in the confessional so that we may die to self and allow you to live in us. Thank you for sending your mother from heaven to seek and to bring us to our knees in prayer to you through the beautiful rosary prayer. Mary brings us to her Son!!! Jesus, we trust in you. Amen and Hallelujah
Our Lady of Lourdes pray for us.
The sappy grin of pure LOVE for Mary!!! "Mom you are pretty great, but she is a better mother." I agree 100%!!! Bless-bless, Barbara Mary Luke
They laughed and made fun of Bernadette when she dug in the mud as Our Lady asked her... and from that came the miraculous healing spring! Still flowing today and the miracles continue inside and out!!!

“I raised my head and looked towards the grotto. I saw a Lady dressed in white, wearing a white dress, a blue girdle and a yellow rose on each foot, the same color as the chain of her Rosary.” - St. Bernadette
Today is the #feastday of Our Lady of Lourdes. On this day in 1858 the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to St. Bernadette Soubiroux in Lourdes, France, identifying herself as "The Immaculate Co...nception." This confirmed to the world the dogma of the faith infallibly proclaimed by Pope Pius IX four years earlier:
"We declare, pronounce and define that the doctrine which asserts that the Blessed Virgin Mary, from the first moment of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of almighty God, and in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, Saviour of the human race, was preserved free from every stain of original sin is a doctrine revealed by God and, for this reason, must be firmly and constantly believed by all the faithful" (Ineffabilis Deus).

Prayer in Time of Sickness
O Jesus, You suffered and died for us;
You understand suffering;
Teach me to understand my suffering as You do;
To bear it in union with You;
To offer it with You to atone for my sins
And to bring Your grace to souls in need.
Calm my fears; increase my trust.
May I gladly accept Your holy will
and become more like You in trial.
If it be Your will, restore me to health so that I may work
for Your honor and glory and the salvation of all men.
Amen.
