Teamwork... "After my Baptist Baptism as age 10... things spiritual appealed to me." Dad

Up for mass with my parents, breakfast and then surprised to be able to share morning prayer with my dad!  "I need to do morning prayer and do it alone on Tuesdays."  "Can I join you, dad?"  What a gift of the grace of Faith pouring upon me and all around me! 


An intention for the family arrived just as we were beginning to pray, so it permeated our time of prayer.  The second Psalm from Isaiah 38 -  dad mentioned that it reminded him of my sister, Mary, who died from Lymphoma... her prayers joined ours and it was a powerful moment for me.  My praying became tear laden, and I find that I have to pray and speak through my tears often on my visits to my parents.  I cry easily but this close to them and their struggles and that of our huge extended family brings them on more than usual.  We are over 120+ now!!!

My mother's health concerns brought me here unexpectedly this week.  She describes it as she is aware of her brain and that she feels that things are different.  Her short term memory is a concern and some difficult discussions are happening here and there.  We trust and pray and await the tests ordered to try to figure out what is happening. 

Out to mass this morning with St Joseph looking down upon us... St Joseph's church in Taylors Falls, and a beautiful reminder that Jesus is with us in the storms of life!


It was very special to not only pray morning prayer with my dad with family in mind and heart, but also to listen to him share with me about his faith journey going back to the Baptism in the Baptist Church at age 10..."It made a difference for me and after that things spiritual appealed to me."  "I remember walking beside the pastor with I was about 15 and he asked me if I thought about the becoming a minister.  I really hadn't, but the seed was planted for when I was on guard duty in the Philippines and heard the Lord tell me to go into the ministry." 


So powerful to think that his Baptism brought him eventually into The Church and becoming a Permanent Deacon in The True Church!  Yet, it truly makes sense to come full circle!!!

This stunning statue grabbed my attention and I had to visit them before we left mass today.  LOVE how Jesus is looking so lovingly at his wonderful mother of heaven and earth!

how many full baskets of fragments did you pick up?"

He said to them, "Do you still not understand?"
Yes, Lord, I do believe, help my unbelief!

We love our mothers and mine has modeled for me openness to life and raising lights!  I am blessed to have her still here with me and my parents together in their own home!  Mom decided today that she will not allow me to take over her work..."I need to keep going forward and not lose ground."  That is the kind of determined person I am dealing with here... my parents are very aware of the teamwork needed!


Jesus, today you reminded us that we need not concern ourselves with ourselves... You are watching out for us and tending to our needs, and the crosses that we encounter are but a reminder that we need turn to you with our needs.  Each day in our rosary prayer we meditate upon all that you have done for us, and that we can trust in your plan for us... not always our plan but the path we are to take to die to self and allow you to work in our lives!  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah

The Colman cows... 14 cows (orange tags) due to have calves in a few weeks.  Colman was where my parents lived for 3 years in SD on the prairie.  It is a fun connection to them on the farm.


I was just telling my parents that I can't put "Hallelujah" from tomorrow til Easter.  "Put it in a gunnysack." my dad said.  "At the Catholic School in Manistique the school kids would put "Hallelujah" in a gunnysack at the School Mass at the beginning of Lent."  LOVE it!!  Bless-bless and Hallelujah one last time, Barbara Mary Luke
