"My sacrifice is a humble contrite heart" Psalm 51

Her face alight with the inner JOY she has as a bride of Christ!!!  We learn so many lessons on giving our all in Sacrifice from our nun daughter, Little Sister Hallel!

She has taken a vow of poverty along with chastity and obedience.  She has a work habit and a good habit and she sleeps on a board, and she has to heat her water first and take a "sister shower" out of a basin, they beg for the food they eat and depend upon divine providence to provide for their needs.  Their worldly possessions would fit in a backpack when they move from one foundation to another!  She has a blue fabric bound tiny book of psalms in her pocket and each week they read all 150 psalms while they are walking or praying.  She carries a pocket calendar and no cell phone or money for the journey.
Jesus in the altar in their humble wooden monstrance.  When I was there over Christmas she brought Jesus out for me to have an hour with him.  I witnessed her LOVE for her Jesus and she sang to him with her voice of an angel!

I am home from a 3 day TEC retreat and reflecting back I am truly humbled by the number of mistakes I made.  Father Andy and I laughed... knowing that we were kind of poor in following the manual... "we are proving that we need Jesus."  was our motto for the weekend!
My two Kansas City daughters for this year... Hallel is stationed in KC for this year, and Nancy lives there with her husband and 4 kids!  We love to spend time there, but that is on hold during Lent!

My 4th day/the days after we leave and enter our day to day lives has been filled with some hard things and definitely challenging.  Concern for family health challenges of my mom and sister-in-law, seem to have straightened out some today.  I have been gifted with the rest of the week here at home with my family on the farm and not up with my parents!  I love to spend time with them, but it feels good to be at home!
 Hallel with Nancy's family at Christmas at Lumen Christi/Light of Christ Monastery in the heart of the poor section of Kansas City.

A man in the neighborhood shared that he used to carry a knife out of fear in their neighborhood.  But he feels safe now with the lighthouse on the hill/Lumen Christi.

The Psalm today - 51 - speaks of my knowing that the Lord is in charge and I am nothing without him.  I get in touch with that when I am sharing myself with others.  When I get cocky and proud... I am humbled and reminded that it's not about me!  I am very excited to share my journey with the Holy Spirit this weekend, I want the Spirit to be in charge and give me the words to say!
Lent calls me to sacrifice, and my heart is aware of my weakness and humanness and my pridefullness... so I want to lay my sharing here and on Saturday at the feet of Jesus and ask him to fill me with only His Truth!

In researching the Holy Spirit for my talk in The Catechism of the Catholic Church... I rejoiced with a "wow" to read that both and hand and finger are used to portray the Holy Spirit!  Why?  Because I always feel that when Jesus touches me through His Holy Spirit that it is like He has left a fingerprint on me and my life!  The biggest touch I had was when I entered into The Church with my parents and my 10 younger siblings 46 years ago!!!  Every day since has been total gift!!!

My family... new Catholics 46 years ago on "the farm" in Wisconsin... my parents got us out of the Cities in the summer to have a garden and make the deserted farmhouse livable again.

How I love to share my story!!!  The Holy Spirit definitely has been guiding my life and continues to open up the scriptures to me each day starting the night before!  Each day is filled to over flowing with Jesus in his Word and Sacrament, I adore the Saints that are given to us each day, Mary the Mother of God is with me throughout the day with my 10 decades of the rosary... This morning I was saying "Hail Mary's" during the birth of twin calves...  some days I don't know where to start with all that has filled me from my beloved Catholic Church which I love, love, love!!!!

R. A heart contrite and humbled, O God, you will not spurn.
For you are not pleased with sacrifices;
should I offer a burnt offering, you would not accept it.
My sacrifice, O God, is a contrite spirit;
a heart contrite and humbled, O God, you will not spurn.
R. A heart contrite and humbled, O God, you will not spurn.  Psalm 51
Hear my prayer, O Lord!

The official family picture the year we became Catholic...

Jesus, my your Holy Spirit fill me with all that is Truth!  May I die to self that you may live in me!  "My sacrifice is a humble contrite heart."  Keep me humble Lord so that I don't allow anything to come between us.  I love you and your Bride, The Church with my all!!!  Jesus, I trust in you.  Amen

To go from such closeness to her and her 5 including baby girl, Evangeline Mary, to being two days away... I miss them!!
Maria's David sent this adorable picture to Pat/Bumpa yesterday!  Him and our dog, Roger!  It looks  a lot like Roger, too!  Bless-bless, Barbara Mary Luke
Poor Roger is tired of the cold weather, David.  Today the sun is shining bright and I think that has given Roger some warmth!  The days are getting longer and warmer (?) we hope anyways!  We miss you so much!  Can't wait til you come for Uncle John's wedding!

Pray for us today on your feast day, St Peter Damian.

PRAYER FOR PEACE AND JOY IN FAMILY

Loving Heavenly Father,The Word of God says, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds". Even now, we pray with one accord that You may pour Your divine peace in our family.

Lord, we believe that You dwell in the high and holy place, with them who have a contrite and humble spirit. You have assured us that if two of us agree on earth concerning anything that we ask, it will be done. So we come to Your presence with all humility and with oneness of mind that You may dwell with us and be the Head of this family. Riches and honor, enduring riches and righteousness are with You, Lord.

Bless us with all abundance and joy. Be with us and guide us in all that we do. May Your name be glorified in our family, now and forever. Amen.

Another way to saying how we learn from the example of Hallel and her Community of the Lamb!
