Joy and JoJo are getting to know each other. Nancy reports that Jo prays for her Joy Jean every night when their family gathers for prayer! The best kind of love to share in our family is our shared Faith!

Just back from sharing mass... a quiet hour at home before the ribbon auction in which our 3 oldest grandkids will be showing their best of the Fair. My thoughts are elsewhere through much of the fair craziness as I ponder how things are going to work out with my parents. My brother, Dan, is there now followed by my brother Jim this evening and then I will return to them on Tuesday morning.

Nancy and Ruth by the beef barn in the evening... I get emotional as the two worlds come together. We were here with them as kids and now their kids are having the same experience that they had with us! I have to admit that Ruth is much more hands on with the cows and calves than I ever was. Such an amazing daughter, wife, mother, farmer, nurse, gardener, natural family planning teacher, on and on and on!!!

With my parents on my heart... the words from Hebrews 11 today in the second reading from mass reminds me that with Faith I can trust that there is a plan and the Lord will reveal it to me...
Faith is the realization of what is hoped forand evidence of things not seen.
Yes, my heartfelt hope is for my parents to have more time together and that they are safe and comfortable and that they can live their faith in all the wonderful ways they wish and can!

Simon will be bringing his cow-calf pair into the ring at the Auction at noon today. Grand champion and we have heard that this first calf heifer is comparable to our legend cow, Bertha from when John was showing her with many of her calves over the years. She got purple at the State Fair and that is so good for our commercial cows and calves! We do know that they are good!

Lord, thank you for such a good year for our family to share the County Fair! Over 30 years of the Fair now in our family and each one special and character building! David suffered through the beef show, but then his grand champion showing goats and overall #1 and #2 at the pig show felt that much more wonderful after the disappointment the day before. Yes, the crosses in our life make the good times that much more wonderful! May we always have our lamps lit and await your coming into our lives as we serve without counting the cost. Saint Clare of Assisi, an Italian saint and one of the first followers of Saint Francis of Assisi, founded the Order of Poor Ladies, a monastic religious order for women in the Franciscan tradition, and wrote their Rule of Life—the first monastic rule known to have been written by a woman. Following her death, the order she founded was renamed in her honor as the Order of Saint Clare, commonly referred to today as the Poor Clares. In art, Clare is often shown carrying a monstrance or pyx, in commemoration of the time when she warded away the soldiers of Frederick II at the gates of her convent by displaying the Blessed Sacrament and kneeling in prayer.
St Clare is so important to our family - Maria's patron saint! Maria entered the Poor Clares for 5 months discerning her call, and they continue to be asked for prayers on our journey!
