Ruth in the bright sun shining on her and her row of cosmos and zinnias. She loves to garden as both of her grandmothers before her!
As we talked about cosmos we sighed with sadness at the loss of our time in Michigan. David and Rose talk about missing their time on the big lake, and my heart is so sad to have lost that glorious family time... 11 hours away from the farm... too far to come back easily and truly get away from all that we need to get done each day.
Ruth picked her first sunflower today and shared that they are ornamental and should put out many blossoms.
Joy holding her swimsuit and beets... behind her all mom's pretty flowers and a field planted in late June with radishes and turnips and some grasses for the cows to graze in October. We were unable to plant many fields of corn this year due to late wet spring, so this is something new and different we will have to see how it turns out. A year like no other for sure!
Ruth's showplace garden and the field behind that will be fenced off for the cows to graze in a month or so. The weather keeps us guessing and hoping and praying, too!
The Gospel today is one that convicts us from holding too closely to that earthly wealth.. with farming it is so complicated with the big business that it is and how much it takes to keep going year after year! Yes, we have much to share, and we do. How I focus on that treasure in heaven day after day! My eyes are focused on Jesus, Mary, the Saints and my 7 kids and 5 grandkids there to meet someday along with my dead that I pray for on my chaplet of Divine Mercy!
Pat and I had some time together yesterday on the 4wheeler checking on pastures and rock crossings and he spoke about the question of the fall and harvest we will be facing this late year. We looked at ears of corn picked from fields to see how they were maturing and it looks quite scary indeed at how much heat and time they will need to reach maturity. So many prayers and placing our trust in Him!
Cow across the road in the pasture were a pretty sight in this bright sunny warm morning.
The words from Jesus to us in Matthew 19 today;
Jesus said to him, "If you wish to be perfect, go,
sell what you have and give to the poor,
and you will have treasure in heaven.
Then come, follow me."
Yes, Lord, we do want to come and follow you no matter the cost, especially if we are totally and completely yours now and for ever! Yes, that is all we want to follow your plan for us and be your hands and feet. May we give to the poor in our midst each day. Those that are not knowing you or your Bride, The Church. Jesus, we want all our treasure to be in heaven forever with You, Mary, the Saints and become the saint that is just me! Jesus, we trust in you. Bless-bless, Barb
Cows on the hill in the pasture...
Up close...
This is not a corn field but a sorghum field... there will be no ears of grain just leaves for the cows to eat.
Time spent with Joy and old lady kitty/Cookie. We spoiled Cookie with milk and cheese in the house. Joy came and spent the night with grandma and grandpa, and didn't want to go home this morning. That kind of touched my heart to have her love her time here that much!
The pasture beauty!
Rose and grandma dreaming about Michigan! Fake plans for next year!
