Reconnoitering the way to the promised land!/A change of the guard today/Home to the County Fair!

Love these from a month ago when we were all together on the farm!  Grandma had the joy of doing her crazy thing of dressing them alike and they all cooperated with hair and getting dressed up and then the smiles for me!!!
Photo shoots give me so much JOY!  It was the best to watch the 3 girls get to know each other and the oldest, Josephine, was so engaging to the two other girls.  "She talks about Joy all the time." her mom would say.  Joy and JoJo had a month together this summer as Nancy and her kids lived with me while selling their home in KC and moving to Delano.

I have watched the other groups of kids get closer as they mature and discover that cousins make wonderful life-long friends!
The cows are interested in these cute girls in pink!

Things are improving around here with mom and dad both through the shower this morning and feeling better as a result.   I am currently giggling at my mother's talking about how they need to wait for the first frost to die as the mosquitoes are so thick at the cemetery that they "could carry your car off" before they decide to die.  I need to laugh more with them, but things can get serious around here!
It was fun to look at these pictures from a week ago and realize just how much my life has changed suddenly and dramatically!  I quickly jumped into my car to be here with my parents and have been here since reconnoitering how this is going to play out an hour at a time.

Today in the first reading from Numbers 13...there is talk of reconnoitering/scout or explore the promised land by some of the Israelites...After reconnoitering the land for forty days they returned... to report that it indeed flowed with milk and honey!
The two a week ago and since I have been here with my parents reconnoitering what we can expect with them going forward.  I am so excited for a couple of my brothers coming after me and the special time they will be given with my two parents together in their own home!

The morning started out well for them and now after sharing a simple lunch we are having our quiet time and I am wrapping this up.  Nancy is coming with homemade soup and bread shortly before I am to head for home and my brother, Dan, will be here to take over the changing of the guard.  Lots of sharing and some tears and some laughter seems to be the mix as we go down the narrow path called aging is a shipwreck yet he does not leave this old house!
My mom had a rough patch last evening, but Tylenol was the cure and soon she was up and eating and sharing out time together - healed!  Today she continues to be good and dad gets stronger by the day!
Mom up and showered and doing her hair and nails and feeling so much better!  Thank you, Lord!

I came out of the bedroom at 5:30a to find dad at his desk catching up on the computer.  A sign of his getting back to his life.  He has been reading the paper and paying some bills and still sharp as can be!  He is using his walker without fail, and waiting for someone to stand by him for safety!

In the office reading the papers is a heartwarming sight for me.  I told him that I miss praying with them in the morning, but I know that will come back soon.  At this moment they are both in their chairs with their rosary beads in their hands!  When dad and I were in the clinic waiting for the foot doctor yesterday we were both saying our rosaries.  "No time is wasted or not spent doing something worthwhile when you can pray your rosary." dad

We reconnoiter that we are trusting in the Lord's plan for mom and dad.  We are constantly exploring what that might look like, but we do see that there are doors opening and closing and that is how we are praying and following Him!
A cute picture of Jude in someone's glasses - not his but so cute!

Like the woman in the Gospel today, who begs our Lord to heal her daughter... Jesus puts her off saying that he has come for the Israelites, but she beseeches him...
She said, "Please, Lord, for even the dogs eat the scraps
that fall from the table of their masters."
Then Jesus said to her in reply,
"O woman, great is your faith!
Let it be done for you as you wish."
And her daughter was healed from that hour.
Matthew 15

Lord, we want to have this kind of Faith and know that my parents are in the palm of your hand.  May we love and serve them without counting the cost.  May they have wonderful time together more as they love and follow you carrying/dragging their most Cherished Cross.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Bless-bless, Barb
Sunday with Jesus... my parents shared a host and shared Jesus and so it is true for them!  They not only gave me LIFE, but also gave me The True Church!  Each day since for the last 48 years has been a gift/pearl of great price!  I am going to pray now with and through My Spiritual Mother, Mary Most Holy!https://familysoulstory.blogspot.com/p/the-amazing-story-of-13-becoming.html
The 13 that came into the Church 48 years ago on 'the farm"  So many prayers for peace and love and healing while my time here with my parents!

I will be soon on the road, after rush hour please, and tomorrow morning will be at the beef show at our County Fair and watch 4 of Ruth's kids show beef!  It sounds like sweet corn will happen the day after the fair is over - like Monday!
