St Dominic/Jude's first beef show/Mom and dad gave me The Church/meet George and family!

The new Minnesota residents stopped in to make a quick visit to my folks just as I was heading back home last evening. They have not been to SCF for years, and only seen my parents at CCC - Cross Christmas Camp.

It was great to discover before I headed to the beef show this morning that it is the Feast of St Dominic today!  The Community is celebrating big today as their roots are Dominican.  And Happy Feast day to Dominic Patrick in the green with his family and great grandma and grandpa...
My dad meeting George for the first time!  He is such a sweet boy!  We missed the party on Sunday where George and Jude would have met my parents.  It was canceled due to both of my parents being under the weather.
The girls were excited to introduce their new baby brother to Great- grandpa.  It will be very nice to have Nancy closer and more able to share in our lives.  She could be in on helping with sweet corn in a few days while they are here for the fair!
 George meeting my mom!
George is content and happy to meet my parents!

Not only is it St Dominic today, but the theme of the readings today is The Rock!  Numbers 20 is about Moses hitting the rock with his staff and water came gushing forth for the livestock and the people in abundance!  Almost like St Bernadette being told to dig in the mud in Lourdes and the healing springs came forth!
Gus in this one and Josephine hiding her face... as close as we can get to good with this many including the little ones!  Happy Feast Day, Dominic Patrick in his green CCC shirt!

Such a cutie with his sister's dolly.
Love the happy faces gathered around my dad after a bit of a hard afternoon... these crazy kids and parents took our minds off ourselves!

I am sure my parents were delighted by the Gospel today as was I!  From Matthew 16
Simon Peter said in reply,
"You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
Jesus said to him in reply, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah.
For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father.
And so I say to you, you are Peter,
and upon this rock I will build my Church,
and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.
I will give you the keys to the Kingdom of heaven.
Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven;
and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

What Church comes down to us from St Peter, the first pope?  The Church/The Bride of Christ/The Roman Catholic Church!  Yes, my parents gave me my life, and also The Church which makes every day the best that it can possibly be... a small slice of heaven here on earth most especially in my domestic Chruch/family sharing our Faith/Family/Farm!

John brought Jude to his first beef show... in the background Simon and Mary are showing their calves.
Smiling Mary with her cow calf pair on the most beautiful day of the summer and such a treat to be showing beef and watching the show in the fresh cool air!
"Welcome to your first beef show cousin Jude!"

 Mary and her calf!
 David means business...
4 month old Jude lounging and watching his oldest cousin, 14 year old Simon.
You have a nice comfortable seat to watch your cousins showing.  The goat show is going on and tomorrow it will be pigs in the morning!
Rose again showing with cloverbuds where dad helps her learn how to show and keeps her safe.  She looked cool and confident!
 Dad is the best!
Just me and my shadow in the most glorious morning at the 2019 fair!  It was so worth driving through the dark to get home by midnight and up to make Pat breakfast before he went in to help get the cows and calves ready!
Such a big girl you are getting to be, Rose Again!  She gives sister Joy and grandma a pleased smile.  "I love to show with my dad.  I am a lucky farm girl!"
Learning to set them up just right!

The day has been full of family and washing toilets and getting things back to normal around here.  I am tired and longing for some time.  It was wonderful to quick glance at the Gospel and Saint for today before heading into the Beef Show... so St Dominic was with me in a special way as was my LOVE for The Church given us by Jesus and St Peter the first Pope!
A proud grandpa as we took Grand Champion Cow-calf pair today!  Congratulations Simon and family!  Now to the State Fair!
 Cute Dave during showmanship!
After the show giving cows and calves some cool time to relax and now Mary goes on to show goats in a few hours!
Mary having a wonderful year at the fair... all her hard work is being rewarded with many grand champions... her stuffed squirrel, dirty your undies and blue ribbon cattle!  Now goat show and pig show!

Jesus, it is good to be home on the farm with family!  St Dominic pray for us.  Be with my parents as they take each day as it comes that they may have more good time together.  Jesus, we trust in you.  We thank and praise you for The Church and all we are given to help us down the narrow path with each new day.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Bless-bless, Barb
