Mary opened the way to all virgins who have since followed her example/Our Hallel calls

Hallel with Maria and Hector in KC last July.  Lots of thinking about our nun today.
Therese and Evangeline doing the dessert train after our meal accompanied by song... for the last 10 years with The Community this has been a most joyful tradition!
Smiles are big for the sweets to follow a meal as the children sing and parade around the table!
This was this past summer when Maria and her 6 went down to visit her nun sister, and introduce her new son, Hector, to his aunt Little Sister Hallel!

A phone call from Hallel yesterday inviting her dad and I to come for Thanksgiving and to stay with them.  Pat has not seen her for almost a year, so he is willing and able to make the trip and to celebrate Thanksgiving with his nun daughter.

She shared with me that they would be celebrating the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary today, so I had a little forewarning, and what an amazingly powerful feast it is with having a nun in our family!
The kids and Hallel working on flowers they were given from a local flower shop.

These words from St Alphonsus Ligori today really touched me...

The Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary
The feast day emphasizes the purity of Mary from the moment her life began.St. Anne and Joachim presented Mary in the temple in gratitude to God for the gift of this child. Mary is considered a temple in which God dwells in a special way.

"As soon as she [Mary] had the use of reason, that is, from the first moment of her immaculate conception in the womb of St. Ann, from that time she began with all her powers to love her God; and thus she continued to do, ever advancing more in perfection and love through her whole life. All her thoughts, her desires, her affections, were wholly given to God; not a word, not a motion, not a glance of the eye, not a breath of hers that was not for God and for his glory, never departing one step, nor separating herself for one moment from the divine love."
-Saint Alphonsus Ligouri

To know that my daughter has taken a vow of Chastity/virginity as she is now a bride of Christ is very special on this day of celebration of the Mother of Jesus being presented in the temple so that she may be the pure and undefiled "temple in which God dwells in a special way!"

When we were in France a year ago in August we heard her bold promise to Jesus as she knelt before their foundress..."I promise unto death!"
After supper a month ago when Nancy and family spent a few days with The Community over MEA!
We were expecting dessert, but what was in their hands?
Flower petals that they showered over Kayla in the corner to celebrate with her that she is now a postulant in the Community!  Saying "Yes" to the personal call she is hearing from her Lord!  Hallel says that she is doing well in her formation!
Bernadette in her blue apron helping with the dishes.  Hallel describes her life as prayer and dishes.  With 10 of them living together and having to heat their water for dishes - in their vow of poverty they have no hot water, so must heat it for their sister showers and their other cleaning needs like the pile of dishes after every meal!

The grandkids or Hallel's nieces and nephews are so very blessed to have a nun in their immediate family!  How they are included in her life and witness her LOVE for Jesus and what a wonderful option giving ALL to Jesus is!  My prayer each day for my 18 grandchildren is for them to each one discern a personal call from Jesus to love and serve Him in this most wonderful way!
George's turn to get acquainted with his Aunt Hallel in October... her lamb she wears around her neck got some George teeth on it, too!

So the fake plans are flying around and my hope and excitement are building to have a trip with my farmer hubby to see our nun daughter, who is not able to come home except for once every 3-4 years, and we will not be visiting or speaking to on the phone during Advent either.  So the window is short and closing for us to see her.

The others in our family are gathering possibly at Nancy's in the Cities and my parents will be having Thanksgiving with my brothers and their wives... so it looks like we might be heading to KC!  Although there was mention of tilling and tiling this morning as Pat headed out for another busy day on the farm.
Praying with Hallel and our Beloved!

I sometimes have to pinch myself to know that I, who also discerned a call, now have a nun daughter, which allows me to share in her life!

Yes, her life must include Eucharist and Adoration each day, which is a Prayer and the Sacrament of LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT.  When she comes home for a home visit we try very hard to allow her to receive Jesus in His Body and Blood and have a Holy Hour, too!  We see how important this is for her to stay ever close to her Beloved, Jesus Christ!
These amazing powerful beautiful words of St Aphonsus again...
"...All her thoughts, her desires, her affections, were wholly given to God; not a word, not a motion, not a glance of the eye, not a breath of hers that was not for God and for his glory, never departing one step, nor separating herself for one moment from the divine love."
-Saint Alphonsus Ligouri

Yes, this is speaking about Mary, who is being honored this day, but she opened the way for Hallel to follow her example, and isn't this what we are all asked to do?  Die to self so that Jesus may completely live and work through us in this world?
Jesus, I am forever filled with so much LOVE for you in this holy and sacred monastery in KC!  I am overwhelmed by your LOVE for me and allowing me to have a taste of this beautiful LIFE through my daughter, Little Sister Hallel!  When we say her name we are giving you all the Praise - Hallelujah!  From Psalm 50 today in the mass readings throughout the world"... perfect in beauty,
God shines forth."  Your beauty fills me with wonder and awe!  Thank you for sharing our faith as a family!  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah
Framed in the doorway of Lumen Christi/LIGHT of Christ Monastery in October!  Now a late November visit with my Most Cherished Cross to share with our Family of the Lamb.  Pat will be living right with them for the first time.  The new normal is always a surprise!  Bless-bless, Barb
The motto of The Community of the Lamb - "Wounded, I will never cease to love."  The Lamb shows us the way and is the model for us in loving no matter what we face!
The two postulants with The Community - Kayla with the Little Sisters and Jed with the Little Brothers, who is blind.  Hallel mentioned that she will give me Jed's mom's number so that I can share with her my blessing and struggles with having my daughter far away and not able to share day to day in our family life. Yes, it is a sacrifice, but we are richly blessed also.

Today we celebrate the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, on which her parents, Joachim and Anne, brought Mary to the Temple, at age three, and consecrated her to God.
No photo description available.

This past weekend at the 10:00 Mass, I accidentally spilled some of The Precious Blood of Jesus on the carpet during Communion. I immediately placed a cloth purificator over the spill so that no one would step on the area until I could clean up the spill after Mass. After Mass ended, I went to the sacristy to get some water and additional cloth purificators to clean up The Precious Blood. When I came out into the main part of the Church, there were 3 nuns from The Children of Mary who had attended 10:00 Mass kneeling around the spilled Precious Blood with their faces down in adoration awaiting me to return. I, along with others, were quite moved by the sisters’ witness of the true presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. One parishioner was so moved that she snapped a picture and shared it with me.

I thought later...How many of us would think to go kneel like that in adoration until The Precious Blood was cleaned up? Certainly something to reflect upon.

Peace to all. ...Deacon Dad
