Chirping birds, mooing cows/Scourging at the pillar prayers/In your hands is my destiny, rescue me

Pat and Paul in the early morning daylight looking over the cows that are close to calving.  I am on my post of watching cow TV at the farm. The sound of the men talking, birds chirping and cows and calves mooing signal calving season is upon us.  Ready, set, go!!!!

 Ruth is busy with her life and remodel tying up the loose ends of getting the 6 into their new bedrooms.  I need to be vigilant in watching and letting the men know if there is any activity in the calving department.
Joy with her arms full of baby dolls after her nap and heading upstairs to find mom who is putting together her room!
 On her way up to her new room, on the newly carpeted stairs.
 The new big girl heading up to her room!
 Rose and Joy put their feet in softness in the morning when they get up.  Pastels and a white bunk bed are certainly a girly room!
Big girl Joy now has her clothes in her new closet complete with miss matched slippers.  She proudly showed me her new closet and her cute clothes hanging in there.  Joy will be 3 on March 31st!
 So excited to see our wonderful wood table refinished along with all the wonderful built ins by a TEC friend   LOVE!  Soon we will be enjoying the wonderful weather out on Ruth's porch!  Yeah!
 So good to see our table loved and cared for!
 Mary's cow hide rug and built in dresser and closet in her room.  Each of them is making their rooms their own!
 Two fresh eggs from the chickens from the shop.  Soon they will be roaming free around the yard if Ruth has a say in it.  David bought the flowers for mom on Sunday a week and a half ago ... still beautiful and a sign of loving their wife and mom!  Ruth is truly a gem, and they cherish and appreciate her around here.  Her dad really loves his farmgirl willing to help and loving the farm life she grew up with!

How we rejoice that Ruth, Paul and their 6 kids live and help on the farm!  As a farmer Pat always hoped to have the farm go on, but with 4 daughters and John it was kind of a long shot.  So this has been a wonderful answer to prayers and hopes!  The words from the Psalm at mass today ring true now looking at the way our farm life has shaped up...
But my trust is in you, O LORD;
I say, “You are my God.”
In your hands is my destiny;
Psalm 31

Jesus is in control of our lives, and when we ask him sincerely and humbly for his plan for us... we will find our way!  It will be challenging but also beautiful!
Praying with quite a few over the lunch hour yesterday... the Lord made a way for me to sit with him in our new Adoration chapel and pray for our Godson, Steve.  The sorrowful mysteries for the day suddenly became very personal and REAL!  Scourging at the pillar was very vivid in my mind after watching The Passion numerous times, and watching Christ being scourged and it cutting into the flesh on his back... Our Godson was at that time having a piece of his back shoulder removed to check for any problems there.  "By his wounds we are healed."  Feeling that the Lord had him in this difficult time was comforting.  Sharing my prayers with him gave him comfort too, he reported.

Pat and I just back from traveling to a neighboring town, and on the way we prayed a decade for a good calving year and our Godson.  He chose Scourging at the pillar!  We shared a special prayer in the midst of our day, and it brought peace in the midst of uncertainty in what will come for us as we begin calving and our Godson...  Jesus is in control!

Walking out of adoration I noticed this bookshelf there and some of Nancy's books on the shelf!  Nancy has a ministry of how good it is to bring your kids to adoration with you, so this seems appropriate to see.   It sure makes you realize that she has reached far and wide with her ministry - Catholic Sprouts!

The first thing you see when you come into Ruth and Paul's home!  St JP II blessing their marriage in Rome a few days after their wedding!  Paul is asking him; "Please bless us with a happy healthy family"... 16 years later the prayer is answered in a most amazing way!  Now the family picture has 6 kids!  All farmkids now!

Trying to wrap this up, but I came across an amazing meditation for today by St Teresa of Calcutta!
Giving our Lives with the Son of Man

Try to increase your knowledge of this mystery of redemption.  This knowledge will lead you to love- and love will make you share through your sacrifices in the Passion of Christ.

My dear children - without our suffering, our work would just be social work, very good and helpful, but it would not be the work of Jesus Christ, not part of the redemption.  Jesus wanted to help us by sharing our life, our loneliness, our agony and death.  All that he has taken upon himself, and has carried it in the darkest night.  Only by being one with us has he redeemed us.  We are allowed to do the same:  All the desolation of the poor people, not only their material poverty, but their spiritual destitution must be redeemed, and we must have our share in it.  Pray thus when you find it hard: "I wish to live in this world which is so far from God, which has turned so much from the light of Jesus, to help them- to take upon me something of their suffering."  Yes, my dear children, let us share the suffering of our poor- for only by being one with them we can redeem them, that is, bringing God into their lives and bringing them to God.

Joseph and the kids playing games during Lent - no screens or movies!

Jesus, how we want to share in your redemption and share in your suffering seems to be part of that.  May we die to self so that you may live in us and we may be your hands and feet.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen

Looks like a fun game for young and older!  It reminds me of Lent past with Maria when she was a girl - we would turn off the TV and put out games to play with each other.  We would also gather for family prayer time before bed and read about the lives of the Saints, pray a decade of the rosary, or read from scripture together.  We would sing old Protestant camp songs together, too!  My roots coming out and all a part of their heritage.  LOVE to see the families of our kids doing their version of Lent as a family sharing their faith with JOY!  Bless-bless, Barb

Danielle did a song for all 20 decades of the 4 mysteries of the rosary!  So amazing!
