"Like never before!" dad about his hospice pampering!/Little sister Day and meeting Pat anniversary

Sweet 15 month old Hector as of yesterday.  Pictured on his feast day celebrated on St Isidore the farmer Saint, as Hector is named after Pat's grandfather, Hector Louwagie a Catholic Farmer!  Love how he is kneeling and looking up at the name, which means so much to Pat and his family.

Maria and Hector on May 15th/St Isidore the farmer Saint!

Looking like a big boy with older sister, Evie on bikes.

With 3 older brothers - this is a must to master, and Hector is right in there!

There is much filling me up with excitement on this June 9th!  I am recalling that it is the anniversary of my falling in love with a most handsome farmer 43 years ago!  I came on the bus from Minneapolis to attend my friends wedding on June 10th here in Marshall.  Margie Verly was a friend from my year at the U of M together, and coming through the farmland and arriving on Main Street and having her brother, Don, come and pick me up and take me to the grooms dinner... there I saw Pat for the first time!
The radishes have grown since I picked them a few days ago...  Dad was impressed as he ate his breakfast before our hospice nurse visit today.

We shared morning prayer together and many times we are reminded that the Lord is in charge of the craziness going on in the world these days.  Being so close at hand in Minneapolis really makes it dwell on our minds and hearts a lot.  Lord, we ask that forgiveness and peace may reign.
Sweet and juicy for lunch and supper today along with some asparagus fresh from the garden.

Reading the readings last night before bed filled me with a lot of happiness to read from I Kings 17... Elijah and the widow!  Today the Little Sisters of the Lamb will be rejoicing at this verse in the Bible that their foundress, Little Sister Marie, was led to when she asked the Lord how he could be asking them to beg for their food from the poor?  Elijah asks the widow with only enough flour and oil to make one small loaf for her son and herself and then starve..."Make some for me and you will never run out." Elijah tells her and so it was for them.
Dad soaking his feet in preparation for getting pampered by hospice this morning.
A smile on his face and his words of appreciation - "My feet are cared for like never before."  How we are happy with all the ways that hospice is making my father feel special and comfortable.

The Gospel is also amazing about salt and light from the Sermon on the Mount continues.
"...You are the light of the world.
A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.
Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket;
it is set on a lampstand,
where it gives light to all in the house.
Just so, your light must shine before others,
that they may see your good deeds
and glorify your heavenly Father.”
Matthew 5

Another special tie in to the Community fills me with joy today at the mention of a city set on a mountain... when we went to France - we moved the mountain of 21 to support and experience the powerful final vows of Hallel- "I promise unto death."  The faith to move mountains became REAL and True!  But as were there in the French foothills of the Pyranees Mountains we would see the ancient ways that the Lords would have castles and the Church steeple on the highest place on the hillside and at night the LIGHT could be seen in all directions of this city built on the mountain!  How my heart soars at the memories of experiencing the beauty of Southern France and our time with our daughter and her prayerful and loving Community of the Lamb!

Final Vows in Rome some years back!  The color of the sky and the shape of the Cross while they give their all to their Spouse, Jesus Christ!
A memory from 6 years ago with Nancy... she was soon to welcome Dominic, Berna was 1 1/2 and Gus was 3...  Dominic will be here for his birthday on Friday while mom and dad are away on a trip.

Things are going to get busy here with 11 kids over at the farm for a few days.  To think that my mother had that all the time!  And Pat's mother also with her 10 kids on the farm.  George will be 16 months on that day, too.  Nancy has asked 14 year old, Mary, to be his lone caretaker as he is a lot to watch and keep safe at that age.
One of those memories that I am over the moon loving!  Birdie in her great-grandpa's arms while he sings to her.  So peaceful and healthy!
Dad's oldest child and youngest great-grandchild sharing Faith/Family/Farm memories are such a special thing for me!  I am the lucky one, even with the hardships that come with our 2 months going on...

We are starting to make fake plans for my mother's funeral mass now.  Dad wants to have it in Taylors Falls, so we are knowing that it will be big and challenging to get him there - 4 hours away.  We will spend the night with my bother there and so we will be gone some days depending on if we go up the night before.  Placing it in the Lord's hands and trusting.  Hospice understands that this is important to my father as not much else, so he will do it!
Toes and fingers all cut and smooth and lotioned - "Like never before."

So very much today!  Most days since we came into The Church are filling me to overflowing with so much from the Word, Sacraments, Jesus and Mary with all the Saints, today St Ephrem, the rosary, prayer of the Church morning and evening, the chaplet, and anniversaries of meeting my Most Cherished Cross and how my life can be described as "never a dull moment" since then.  Wow!  I am filled with such JOY, blessings and graces thanks to my father leading us into The Church 49 years ago - helped by the prayers of my husband who told his sisters years before "I will only marry a Catholic."  Knowing what a determined man he is... I now see that he was instrumental in my conversion, which he was aware of through his sister, Marge!

Oh, yes!!! Such amazing gifts I am given to have my Deacon Father the King of our family living with me!
I have a namesake and it feels so grand!
With 13 of our 19 grandkids!  I am filled with so much gratitude to this man and how he brought the LIGHT of the Church into our lives!
Birdie Barbara is now washed clean and brought into full membership with our family of 30!

Jesus, we love you and are given so much with each new day by your Church!  How we love to have your Mother walking with us down the narrow path as we carry/drag our Most Cherished Cross and follow you to LIFE eternal.  May your LIGHT shine into the darkness and bring us to newness of LIFE!  Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah

Follow the way of love... I Corinthians 14:1

"Go with Him, as His inseparable companion,
to the wedding feast of Cana, and drink of the wine of His blessing. Let you have ever before you the Face of the Lord, and look upon His beauty, and let your earnest gaze turn nowhere away from His most sweet countenance.
Go before Him into a desert place and see the wonder
of His works, where He multiplied in His own Holy Hands
the bread that sufficed to feed a great multitude.

Go, my brother, go forward,
and with all the love of your soul
follow Christ wherever He may go...

And lovingly behold Him
as taking bread into His hands, He blesses it, and breaks it,
as the outward form of His own Immaculate Body;
and the chalice which He blessed as the outward form
of His Precious Blood, and gave to His Disciples; and
be you also a partaker of His sacraments."
