"Mom, did Dominic come out of your heart?" Augustine

Usually they kneel beside Augustine's bed, but little sister Bernadette wanted to be by her new baby brother, so they all gathered around 2 day old Dominic in his infant seat with hands folded in prayer, and said their nighttime prayers.  Dominic was wide awake and very peaceful - every night he has heard these prayers and felt the peace and joy from within his mother.  How special to be in the heart of his family as they share their Faith in their domestic Church!
Gus got to help bring his new brother home, and it was a happy homecoming with neighbors and friends and sister and grandma all there to celebrate with great JOY!
At lunch yesterday, just a short time after Dominic had come home from the hospital with mom and dad, Augustine asked his mom; "Mom, did Dominic come out of your heart?"  Nancy and I were very touched and laughed while Nancy answered honestly - "Yes, he did come out of my heart."  We both know that he has his anatomy in his 3 year old mind confused, but in reality he did come out of the hearts of Nancy and Bill as they wanted a new little one to join their family.   Bill kept looking at him in awe and holding him close yesterday saying; "I can't believe you are here!"  He also shared that while he was getting his hair cut yesterday, the beautician asked him if they were done now having kids.  "I told her no, that I want to have more than 3 kids.  She was surprised by my quick answer."  Thank you, Bill and Nancy, for promoting the openness to LIFE even in the small ways of answering the probing questions of others.
Family time is the best time on earth - a small slice of heaven!
Saturdays are devoted to The Blessed Virgin Mary and with the miracle of LIFE so fresh in our lives this day..."a new bundle fresh from heaven" as a friend put it... we are reminded so powerfully of the gift of LIFE/LOVE/LIGHT - God made man come into this world as the result of Mary saying "Yes." to LIFE!  Mary the Mother of God could truly answer Augustine's question with a resounding "Yes, Jesus did come out of my heart filled with humble acceptance that LIGHT was coming into the world to chase away the darkness of sin and death.  So with saying yes to life in our marriage/family - we die to self so that Christ may live in our world, in our home/family/domestic Church. We are called to raise LIGHTS for the world.  How?  By sharing our Faith with JOY!  As Blessed Theresa of Calcutta says - "Joy is a net by which we catch souls."  So true of how we bring Faith into our homes!
How's this amazing psalm from morning prayer.."Mary the Mother of God, conceived without sin, courageous participant in the mystery of redemption wrought by her Son, loving mother of all the world, is herself the song of salvation sung by all the human race as the dawn of our own hope."  See www.magnificat.com
"My heart is ready, O God,
my heart is ready.
I will sing, I will sing your praise.
Awake my soul,
awake, lye and harp,
I will awake the dawn..."
Psalm 57
So fitting this day of giving birth from the heart!  Our heart is ready, O God, to bear you to the world. Jesus, we trust in YOU.  Amen and Hallelujah

This seemed to be so appropriate as we are surrounded by 3 little ones 3, 19 months and 2 days old.  As Jesus tells us we must become a little children - ST Therese echoes those words here with her littleness.

So fitting for today too.  Thanks Pope Francis!
