"the word of the Lord, purest gold." Psalm 18:31

Family picture surrounding their newest member, little Dominic, on the day of his birth.  As I was sharing the news with my friends it struck me that he was more precious and worth more than gold or jewels!   This has been so turned around in this world that seeks wealth and riches and gets rid of those little ones which are not convenient through the horror of abortion.  In reality LIFE is more precious than all the riches of this world.  When you look upon the miracle of LIFE with a new arrival and marvel at how all the systems of that perfect little body work... The Truth is there and of that there is no doubt.
My husband has traveled to our mission in Guatemala, and been struck by the poor he witnessed there - their faith was so strong, their families were so close and happy, life was appreciated and respected as they were not
My husband, Patrick, has visited our mission in Guatemala.  There he witnessed how the poor with nothing but the very bare necessities found true Faith as the distractions caused by all the stuff and coveting of power and wealth brings us was not an issue.  They seem to share happiness in embracing family for each new member adds to the true wealth - more precious than gold!  He returned home with a new appreciation of what really matter in life, and a feeling of shame at how our values are so misled and wrong.  It is wonderful when you can provide for your family, yet siblings are by far more  valuable and precious than stuff or power or big houses or vacations to far flung destinations or a perfect body...
Shortly Gus gets to go to the hospital with his dad to bring home his new brother and mom!  He laughed long and hard when I mentioned to him that the cement mixer sleeper he picked out for Dominic to wear home will have the cement mixer on his bottom.  How fun will it be for him to help get his baby brother dressed, in his carseat and strapped in the car to bring home with mommy and daddy!  He will feel so big and special, and will remember that he was able to share in this most important occasion in Dominic's life of coming to his home to join his family and grow in their LOVE!
I think mommy will have a lot of helpers...
Today is the feast of St Anthony and I just checked with Pat about the amazing miracle of finding things he had happen last fall.  The combine broke down in the dark and they started working on it in the middle of the corn field.  "We took it apart and then came back to it in the morning light.  As we were putting it back together we realized that a sensor about the size of a dime was missing in all that debris from the combined corn all around us - I thought it would be impossible to find, and started to pray to St Anthony.  There it was!  I couldn't believe it, and I thought St Anthony really does help you find impossible things!"  Just had to share that today on this feast of this amazing preacher, who spoke the Word/Christ and brought many to the Truth!
Soon the family will be together at home, and the adjustment will begin.  Lord, we ask for it to be filled with your LIGHT/LOVE/LIFE, and we know that there are those moments that are hard but by embracing the Cross we find LIFE and all that is of real value.  Yes, we are called to die to self, as parents, with each new life we say yes to.  That is where we allow YOU to come into the midst of our domestic Church/family and make it a small slice of heaven here on earth as we all strive to be together in true heaven someday.
Big brother, Augustine, age 3 is now off to help bring hime his baby brother today!  Today in the Gospel Jesus spells out for us how each letter of the law/commandments of The Church ask for so much more of us.  We are asked to "cut off whatever keeps us from purity."  If we surround ourselves with a growing family in which we share our Faith freely and with JOY then we leave less opportunity for sin.  If we keep the TV and computer away from the evil influences and temptations we are cutting out that "eye" that leads to sin and death and darkness. Lord, help us to protect the purity of the little ones put in our charge... not allow them to be put in a house of prostitution and violence with all the horrible games and shows that are all around them.

So good for this special boy to have this important occasion to share with mom and dad..
Jesus with St Anthony this special feast day... we ask that we may be vessels of Love as we share in our domestic Church/family - giving without counting the cost.  Bernadette and I are heading outside to wait for the arrival home of Nancy and Bill's family.  Life is a gift to be cherished and protected no matter the cost.  ST Gianna - Pro-Life Saint - may you intercede for all those considering taking the life of their innocent little baby.  Jesus, end the atrocity of abortion. Jesus, we trust in you.  Amen and Hallelujah
Bless-bless, Barbara Luke with my sweet new grandson/grandchild #11, Dominic Patrick!

Jesus, I promise You to submit myself to all that You permit to befall me,
make me only know Your will.
My most sweet Jesus, infinitely merciful God, most tender Father of souls,
and in a particular way of the most weak, most miserable, most infirm
which You carry with special tenderness between Your divine arms,
I come to You to ask You, through the love and merits of Your Sacred Heart,
the grace to comprehend and to do always Your holy will,
the grace to confide in You,
the grace to rest securely through time and eternity in Your loving divine arms.
