Such a gentle loving look... Rose seems to understand how wonderful it is to have our spiritual Mother there to bring us to her Son, Jesus!
How I love Saturdays devoted to The Blessed Virgin Mary! I was lifted up by the sharing in the Magnificat this morning;
The motto of Saint John Paul II was Totus Tuus (totally yours). Saint John Paul II entrusted all his prayers and works to the Blessed Virgin Mary. We would do well to entrust all our cares and our very lives to her, for she is "the safest, easiest, shortest and most perfect way to Jesus and to sanctity..."
I used 5 year old farmgirl, Rose Ida, as my model around my yard this summer. We always have to go and visit Our Lady!
I have had others try to dissuade me from my Marian love and devotion, but there is no hope for their arguments to change what I know in my heart for all the ways she walks with me and carries my needs to her Son with each new day! I am sure that some of them feel that I am misled and "out of my mind" or on the wrong path... I feel sorry for them not having her with them... my inner chapel is filled with the LIGHT that she brought into the world with her "yes."
Granddaughter Mary had a love for her namesake and we would always visit her in my Mary garden on the farm!
It was a delight to find my early Catholic Days Hero - Thomas Merton writing the meditation today entitled Understanding Jesus in Mary!
The Genuine significance of Catholic devotion to Mary is to be seen in the light of the Incarnation itself. The Church cannot separate the Son from the Mother. Because the Church conceives of the Incarnation as God's descent into flesh and into time, and his great gift of himself to his creatures, she also believes that the one who is closest to him in this great mystery was the one who participated most perfectly in the gift.
A kiss for her Spiritual Mother!
Merton goes on to explain...
When a room is heated by an open fire, surely there is nothing strange in the fact that those who stand closest to the fireplace are the ones who are the warmest. And when God comes into the world through the instrumentality of one of his servants, than there is nothing surprising about the fact that his chosen instrument should have the greatest and most intimate share in the divine gift.
9 1/2 years ago when Hallel left to join the Community of the Lamb in France!
8 years ago while we were gathered around John to battle brain cancer!
John in Lourdes for the second time in 2011. He was over a year cancer free and we were there for Hallel taking her first vows.
John's half hearted prayer for faith took fire deep inside of him through Our Lady of Lourdes. He fell head over heels in love with her to this day! Whenever he had a hard situation to face with his cancer we would say a "Hail Mary" whether a decade or entire rosary. This continues with a "Hail Mary" after the meal prayer for those that are facing cancer!
His powerful promo video! He burns to share his new found faith/Love with one and all!!!
There are two truths about our devotion to our Mother given to us at the foot of the Cross to bring into our homes!
1. She brings us to her Son... a vivid example would be the nation of Mexico brought to faith through Our Lady of Guadalupe! Millions brought to Jesus through Mary!
2. There is no place to call home other than The Catholic Church, if you love and look to her as your Spiritual Mother! There is something so huge in this telling me that this is Truly The Church!

The Blessed Virgin Mary Compared To A Window
Because my will is simple as a window
And knows no pride of original birth,
It is my life to die, like glass, by light:
Slain in the strong rays of the bridegroom sun.
Because my love is simple as a window
And knows no shame of original dust,
I longed all night, (when I was visible) for dawn my death:
When I would marry day, my Holy Spirit:
And die by transsubstantiation into light.
For light, my lover, steals my life in secret.
I vanish into day, and leave no shadow
But the geometry of my cross,
Whose frame and structure are the strength
By which I die, but only to the earth,
And am uplifted to the sky my life.
When I became the substance of my lover,
(Being obedient, sinless glass)
I love all things that need my lover's life,
And live to give my newborn Morning to your quiet rooms,
-Your rooms, that would be tombs,
Or vaults of night, and death, and terror,
Fill with the clarity of living Heaven,
Shine with the rays of God's Jerusalem:
O shine, bright Sions!
Because I die by brightness and the Holy Spirit,
The sun rejoices in your jail, my kneeling Christian,
(Where even now you weep and grin
To learn, from my simplicity, the strength of faith).
Therefore do not be troubled at the judgements of the thunder,
Stay still and pray, still stay, my other son,
And do not fear the armies and black ramparts
Of the advancing and retreating rains:
I'll let no lightning kill your room's white order.
Although it is the day's last hour,
Look with no fear:
For the torn storm lets in, at the world's rim,
Three streaming rays as straight as Jacob's ladder:
And you shall see the sun, my Son, my Substance,
Come to convince the world of the day's end, and of the night,
Smile to the lovers of the day in smiles of blood;
For though my love, He'll be their Brother,
My light - the Lamb of their Apocalypse.

One of my favorite icons... Jesus eating his mother's chin to show all the love he has for her!
I have seen my grandchildren do this to their wonderful mothers, too! Bless-bless, Barbara Mary Luke
John asked for Bobbi's hand at the altar to Mary in our Church! He loves his Spiritual Mother and his Bobbi! A true sign of a man, who will be loving and good to his spouse is if he loves and respects his mother, and John does this for both me his earthly mother and Mary his Mother of heaven and earth! Bobbi has a lot to smile about, I would say!
