100%/"Seek what is above"...flat on your back so that you can look up!/So much rain!!!

I love this of my dad a couple weeks ago when he had just had a very positive visit to his kidney doctors in Vets!   My sister, Paula, was there with him and gushed about how the staff were so amazed that dad looks to young and healthy for 94.

This morning he had the aide here early to help him with his meticulous cares from showering to shaving and grooming.  She really is just watching him for safety while he does everything.  After she had left dad checked his oxygen and was so surprised and elated to see that it was 100%!  A sure indication of how things are generally going for him with a few bumps in the road.

Mom and dad on their 70th anniversary on August 30th!

Dad, mom and I just had a heart to heart about the changes that are on the horizon for them and us.  Looking at an assisted living in the Cities tomorrow with dad.  Mom is digging in and dad was sharing with her that prayers aren't always answered the way we want them to be.  "Sometimes we are knocked on our backs so that we will look up."  It made me laugh when I read Colossians 3 - the first reading from mass today...
"Brothers and sisters:
If you were raised with Christ, seek what is above,
where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
Think of what is above, not of what is on earth.
For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ your life appears,
then you too will appear with him in glory..."
Col 3:1
A strange happening yesterday... mom went with dad on an errand and I was alone here.  It was the first time mom has been out in 2 weeks when I took her to the doctor.

Thankfully the sun came out a bit yesterday, but it is dark and rainy today here and at home.  Pat reports that we have gotten 5 inches of rain in the last 4 days!  "There is so much water and flooding. and we are to get another inch or 2 this afternoon and this evening."  Lord, we place the animals and crops and farmers in your hands!
Farm supper last night with Ruth's beets and beet greens, cucumbers and tomatoes,. and the tomato soup Pat, I, and Ruth made on Friday - 90 quarts!  Mom and dad are appreciative.

More of the Hallel/total praise to our Lord and Savior Psalm 145 today in mass... I continue to praise Him for bringing our nun daughter safely back to KC!  I just want to rejoice to the rooftops so I am sharing this Psalm of Praise!
R. (9) The Lord is compassionate toward all his works.
Every day will I bless you,
and I will praise your name forever and ever.
Great is the LORD and highly to be praised;
his greatness is unsearchable.
R. The Lord is compassionate toward all his works.
Let all your works give you thanks, O LORD,
and let your faithful ones bless you.
Let them discourse of the glory of your Kingdom
and speak of your might.
R. The Lord is compassionate toward all his works.
Making known to men your might
and the glorious splendor of your Kingdom.
Your Kingdom is a Kingdom for all ages,
and your dominion endures through all generations.
R. The Lord is compassionate toward all his works.
Psalm 145 - A true Hallel Psalm - the first part of Hallelujah!!
My mother praying the readings from mass today on this rainy day we were slow to get into the shower and mom stayed in her comfy robe...

Jesus teaches us the Beatitudes today in Luke 6 in the Gospel today... St Paul to the Colossians speaks about the pitfalls of our sins... but Jesus gives us the guidelines of the Beatitudes to have a map of holiness!
"Blessed are you who are poor,
for the Kingdom of God is yours.
Blessed are you who are now hungry,
for you will be satisfied.
Blessed are you who are now weeping,
for you will laugh.
Blessed are you when people hate you,
and when they exclude and insult you,
and denounce your name as evil
on account of the Son of Man.

"Rejoice and leap for joy on that day!
Behold, your reward will be great in heaven..."
Luke 6

Jesus, we need you to be in control of our lives and then we will go down the narrow path to Heaven forever with you, Mary our Mother of heaven and earth, and the Saints.  May we become the saint that is just me.  Jesus, we trust in you.  Bless-bless, Barb and Hallelujah!
Rainy day with mom and dad.

Remembering 9-11-2001 today.

On this night 18 years ago, 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police s went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.

LOVE!!!
The Eucharist is the food of the soul

that maintains, mends, increases,

and gladdens the life of grace in the soul,

because it gives to it the very Author of grace.

The divine life can enter into us by other doors,

but it is by Holy Communion that it

inundates our souls like a river in a flood."
