On this feast day of The Holy Name of Mary... I named my Maria for Mary as we had Pat and I each had a sister named Mary! So happy feast day dear Maria and granddaughter, Mary Lanoue, and both of Maria's girls have middle names Marie and Mary! LOVE!

I certainly feel that way about Mary being my loving and comforting companion... She holds me close to her Immaculate heart!
The Words of Jesus to us today are so very powerful and hard to take to heart and put into reality in our day to day lives!
Jesus said to his disciples:

pray for those who mistreat you.
To the person who strikes you on one cheek,
offer the other one as well,
and from the person who takes your cloak,
do not withhold even your tunic.
Give to everyone who asks of you,
and from the one who takes what is yours do not demand it back..."

Read that a few times and really ponder how we are being called to die to self and serve and give without counting the cost! The ones closest to us are the ones we do this most poorly! Lord, may I take your words to heart and serve you with my all!!!

Feast of the Most Holy Name
of the Blessed Virgin Mary

"Oh name of the mother of God, thou art my love."
We venerate that name of Mary because it belongs to her who is the Mother of God,
the holiest of creatures, Queen of heaven and earth, the Mother of Mercy.
In accordance with Jewish custom our Lady's parents named her eight days after
her birth, and were inspired to call her Mary. The feast of the Holy Name of
Mary follows that of her Birthday, as the Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus follows
Christmas. Our salvation begins when an archangel speaks the name of Mary.
To be Christian is to carry on that Annunciation unceasingly.
Jesus and Mary we know that you are with us on this journey of life and that you have a plan for each one of us. How we pray for a way for our parents to continue to be together and have more good time sharing their married life and their Faith! May we all love and serve them without counting the cost. Bring healing and comfort to them... As our wonderful friend, Fr Custodio, who instructed us as we came into The Church at Basilica of St Mary 48 years ago... he reminded mom and dad this;

These words in the Magnificat today..
St Louis de Montfort wrote that "The Salvation of each individual is bound up with the Hail Mary." Why? Because it was when the angel greeted Mary that our Savior became flesh in her womb. To be Christian is to carry on that Annunciation unceasingly by repeating the Hail Mary. This prayer, which names the holy name of the Mother of God, "brought to a dry and barren world the Fruit of LIFE. It will cause the Word of God to take root in the soul and bring forth Jesus." The holy name of Mary bears such power because of the unique bond between Mother and Son. "When God sent his Son born of a woman, he instituted a once and for all order of salvation in which the union of Mother and Child stands at the center." To accept the divine privilege of speaking the name of Mary is to participate in that saving union.
