We discovered that 4 canners to running over full add up to 71 quarts of spaghetti sauce! Ruth and I marvel how we manage to fill things up to the very top whenever we make one of our recipes!
How do we even have 4 canners? One was my wedding gift from Pat's siblings, and so it was a huge indication of what our summers would be full of... canning! I looked at my oldest yesterday and thought to myself how special it is that Ruth has the life she grew up with and is my canning partner. She is the master gardener, too! To my one pail of tomatoes from my garden she brought over 5 pails! Her garden is lush and clean!
Pat's mother was with us... I am sure, but I also wore her sweatshirt out to pick tomatoes in the rain and it was a strong reminder of the putting up food for my family that I learned from her.
We canned together over the years and even later when she was over 90 she would come and help. I thought she would just sit and watch, but she would be up and working!
Domesticated Pat! How he loves those big canning days!
Big Dave and Mary helping put the tomatoes through to juice. Pat peeling onions.
The 6 having a lunch break on the porch out of the craziness of the kitchen!
The crew... soon most of those jars were full of yumminess!
The salsa model before we put it in jars... 73 pints of salsa!
71 quarts of spaghetti sauce... each year we break our records from the year before! With the 45 qts from last weekend = 116 quarts of spaghetti sauce which Ruth uses at least one a week or more!
Pat is not a pasta guy, but he likes Italian dunkers and said our sauce was good!
Ruth's 3 oldest on the altar assisting Father Todd this morning!
The readings today are about humility... the most important virtue for us on this journey! We are nothing without our Lord!

Father shared this in his homily and it was great to see it shared as they are pearls of Truth! The silence over wordiness one is ringing a bell for me!
There is excitement in the Lanoue house as the fall kittens have been found and are in the house to be tamed and loved!
The calico is a definite female and so the cycle goes around and around with spring and fall kittens making smiles and snuggles happen over their dad's objections. Ruth wore her dad down in our home, and now her husband for a while anyways - until they crawl out of the clothes basket and they start living in her playhouse by the garden.
Before the house filled up... living the legacy passed down to me by my wonderful farm wife supreme mother-in-law, Anna Verly!
A work of art... Salsa Joy!
In jars after a full day of work!
Ruth's hydrangea tree graced our family breakfast on their beautiful porch after mass shared!
Joy is 2 1/2 and kittens are a part of her life on the farm always!
Making smiles for little girls!
Laughter and kittens is the meaning of JOY!
The Alleluia today before the Gospel about taking the lowest place at a wedding and then being offered to move up rather than down!
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Take my yoke upon you, says the Lord,
and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Jesus, how we want to die to self so that you may live in us. We make such a mess of our day to day lives when we take them into our hands and have our way. Our way is selfishness and you ask us to be humble. Show us the way! Jesus, we trust in you. Amen and Hallelujah
New furniture as they close out at Menards.. so sweet with Big Dave's grand champion wood working flag coffee table. Ruth sure loves and uses her porch daily! She has transformed our farm house to beautifully and now it is in the midst of more work inside and out! Bless-bless, Barb

The Truth! May love start and grow and mature in our homes as well as sharing our Faith with JOY!

Each day with Our Lady and her prayer and intercession for us!
Litany of Humility
O Jesus, meek and humble of heart,
Hear me.
From the desire of being esteemed,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being loved,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being extolled,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being honored,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being praised,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being preferred to others,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being consulted,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being approved,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being humiliated,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being despised,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of suffering rebukes,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being calumniated,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being forgotten,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being ridiculed,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being wronged,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being suspected,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
That others may be loved more than I,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be esteemed more than I,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That, in the opinion of the world, others may increase and I may decrease,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be chosen and I set aside,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be praised and I go unnoticed,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be preferred to me in everything,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may become holier than I, provided that I may become as holy as I should,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
Charity
Charity is patient, is kind; charity does not envy, is not pretentious, is not puffed up, is not ambitious, is not self-seeking, is not provoked; thinks no evil, does not rejoice over wickedness, but rejoices with the truth, bears with all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. (1 Cor. 13:4-7).
To have Charity is to love God above all things for Himself and be ready to renounce all created things rather than offend Him by serious sin. ( Matt. 22:36-40)
by Merry Cardinal del Val, secretary of state to Pope Saint Pius X from the prayer book for Jesuits, 1963
