From Shawnee, Kansas this morning from Nancy and Bill. "All dressed up for his Godmother's funeral." 2 1/2 year old George is joining his mother and sister in losing their Godmothers at a young age. Prayers for them, and from heaven for their families and Godchildren.
My sister, Mary, died at 28 from cancer leaving behind her 20 month old daughter, Audrey, and dairy farmer husband, Gerry, along with Goddaughters, Nancy and Susan. Bill's sister, Amy, died just 6 months ago leaving her son, Maddox, and also she was Bernadette's godmother. Now George loses his Godmother... Wonderful Emily, who leaves behind her husband and 5 children. "It was my duty to get my wife to heaven and I did that."
George with Emily and Charlie Smart, his Godparents, after Archbishop Naumann baptized him in the Cathedral in Kansas City in 2019. Emily died from a short battle with cancer.

A memory from Small Things - "Mary, Mother of Jesus, be a mother to me now." St Mother Teresa
And teach me to be a mother to my children.
Years ago Nancy asked me why she had Godparents that did not shower her with love and prayers. One Godmother had died when she was small, my sister Mary, and another had left her Catholic Faith behind for New Age, and her ex- husband was long out of her life. "Well Nancy, I guess the Lord is asking you to be a person of prayer for your Godparents. That is a special calling for you. And remember that your Godmother is looking after you from heaven we hope and pray."
The physician is there to love and to heal us unconditionally if only we follow Jesus and embrace His Cross!
LOVE these words of finding Jesus and following Him! "Certainty, certainty, heartfelt Joy, peace, Joy, joy, joy, tears of joy. Let me never be cut off from Him."
As I write this today I am a puddle of tears at the passing of Emily at just 38 years old. As Father just said in his homily - "She embraced the Cross in life and in death."
How I giggled when I read this - I was thinking that getting my 10 decades done in a day was something... I guess it is just a drop in the bucket right St Pio?
Our rope to heaven is this amazing prayer that is with each breath that we take and every beat of our hearts - "Mary and Jesus, Mary and Jesus, Mary and Jesus, Lord and Lady..."
Nancy, Susan, and Bernadette all have their Godmothers in heaven praying for them and showing them the way to LIFE eternal. George, who is in Nancy's womb here in France for Hallel's final vows July 2018...along with Maria's Hector, and Bobbi's Jude! George now is at his Godmother's funeral mass in KC.
The five 8 years ago with their 3 babies... Rose, Patrick, Bernadette.
I am hugely distracted and here and there as I listen to the funeral mass for Emily as I write this. George will have a woman of such strong faith and LOVE praying for him. She donated her retinas to help someone see - with eyes of Faith!
Such a powerful mass today for St Matthew! Jesus saw him and called him - "Follow me." And he dropped his sinful life and did just that! He had a banquet in his home to celebrate his new life -
The Pharisees saw this and said to his disciples,
“Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
He heard this and said,
“Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do.
Go and learn the meaning of the words,
I desire mercy, not sacrifice.
I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.” Matthew 9
It really struck me how difficult and important it was for St Matthew to write the Gospel of Matthew and proclaim it throughout the world without the printing press, or instant messaging!
"We who take access to words for granted should pause to be grateful to those who preserved the Gospel words so carefully and spread them to the utmost bounds of the world without benefit of the printing press or instantaneous media." Wow!
Two girls, who have their Godmothers to pray for and know of their love and prayers from heaven. They keep our eyes on heaven and help our eyes of Faith to be true and constant we hope and pray.
There are fake plans to Nancy and Bill to stop in and see the Little Sisters at Lumen Christi today before they head for home in Delano. The Little Sisters are returning from France today! How we love our Community of the Lamb! Hallel's family of the Lamb are also our family! Although she does not marry other than to Jesus - we have hundreds of Little Sisters and Little Brothers because of her "yes".
Nancy and Bill are sad to now be 7 hours away from them. For 3-4 years they were only half an hour away... Nancy had weekly Adoration and brought her kids to share - Hallel would make a point to see them while they were there. "I think that the kids are the magnet to get her to show up while we are there." They would also take part in masses on Sunday time to time as well as special celebrations. It was the hardest thing to leave them and their dear friends like the Sharps! To return at this sad occasion is very hard indeed...
Yes!
A good read from mom and Pope Benny.
7 years ago - Romeo is here! Since they have added Evangeline, Hector, and Magdalene. Open to LIFE and raising LIGHTS! Jesus, we trust in you. Bless-bless, Barbara
Canning 2 years ago... we done early this year due to the drought.
Such a testament to a holy life lived and early death!
