The Pat and Barb Verly family and their 5 children, in laws and grandkids along with many prayer warriors have been drawn together by John's cancer... sharing daily for 8 months started this blog- Family Soul Story - Our faith, family, farm and now our cancer journey called HEALING have colored and deepened our world. WE continue to share and depend on the support of our prayer warrior community, that has lowered us into the Lord's presence for His healing!
Oldest grandchild Simon is 17 today!/Nothing is hidden from the LIGHT/Thankful for the rain!
2 1/2 year old Jude is very impressed by his oldest cousin, Simon! Simon has always loved his spaghetti plain, but in the last few years he has broadened his horizons and added some spaghetti sauce which we make by the hundreds of quarts.
Today Simon is 17! Our oldest grandson, and such a great young man to have on the farm.
Yes, Jude your cousin loves his spaghetti and all pasta. I have not much doubt what his mother will be making him for his birthday supper on the farm tonight.
Little 16 month old Birdie Barbara is a good eater of pasta too!
These two have birthdays just 2 days apart, and Simon being the first nephew makes him very close to Hallel's heart and daily in her prayers. She was 19 and going into college when Simon was born. Now she is in France for the year, and we know of her prayers.
Simon has autism and was informing me the other day that he is no longer taking "my focus medication." "I graduated from special needs." It is good to know that who we see is Simon with his hard work at school, the gift of his voice which he uses at church and in choir and musicals, and his willingness and hard work on the farm. Grandpa asks Simon his opinion on jobs they are doing now.

It is an on and off rainy day here today, and we are grateful for even these rains that are too late to help the crops. We still have 150 cows in pastures, and it is to the point that they have to haul water in a truck to them. "It sure would be nice to have water running in the creeks again."
7 year old Simon... the time sure flies! He will be a big brother to his baby brother in mid November... #7 child for Ruth and Paul! There is a hope that Simon can get his Confirmation and then be his baby brother's Godfather. That would be such a special bond between the two of them.
Thanks for all you do to help grandpa on the farm, Simon.
Always love Mary, Jesus and The Church... If you put your faith first than all the rest will fall into place. Today in the Gospel we are reminded to put our lamp/LIGHT on the lampstand so that all will see the LIGHT.
The first hour of Mondays I have my hour with Jesus in the Adoration chapel. John is just ahead of me and we overlap and pray together.
I am always drawn to the 10th Station of the Cross - Jesus is stripped - since Susan/Hallel sat under the 10th station every morning for her Holy hour and mass after she returned from the Discernment house after college. "Susan, why do you sit under the 10th Station? Because it is the humility station?" "No, mom, because it is the last row that has a kneeler and that way people can't see me cry."
Jesus hands over his clothes and there is nothing hidden! It is in keeping with the words of Jesus to us in the Gospel today - Luke 8
Jesus said to the crowd: “No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel or sets it under a bed; rather, he places it on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light. For there is nothing hidden that will not become visible, and nothing secret that will not be known and come to light. Take care, then, how you hear. To anyone who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he seems to have will be taken away.”
Why do we think that we can hide our evil in the darkness we keep in the corner of our inner self? Jesus sees all, so lay it at his feet in the confessional, and go in sinful and leave there washed clean and forgiven unconditionally. Return that to all around us!

Joy is at school for the day... Joy is a perfect name for her! She remembers my dad well after he lived her with me for the last 6 months of his life - sharing our farm monastery with prayers of The Church. I was allowed to share in my dad's vocation of a Permanent Deacon in The Catholic Church for 44 years! How we love All we are given by Jesus and His Bride, The Church!
Nancy and Bill 5 years back in their Church - Sacred Heart in Shawnee, KS. They will be there today for the funeral of George's Godmother, Emily. She died after a short battle against a very deadly cancer. She leaves behind her husband and 5 children. So many prayers for safe travels and comfort to all at this most difficult time.
With Goddaughter, Rose Again, on the occasion of her First Communion last year. Always cherish Jesus and come to receive Him humbly and often.

Lord, we cannot understand the mysteries of life and death. We do know that we are called to live forever in LIGHT/LIFE/LOVE everlasting at the end of our journey here on earth. May we find comfort in knowing you died for each one of us, and we are unconditionally loved and forgiven. Be with Emily and her family this day. Jesus, we trust in you. Amen and Hallelujah
Archbishop Joseph Naumann is the Archbishop of Kansas. He is the Prolife chairman of the Bishops, and a strong clear LIGHT filled voice for LIFE! He baptized our George as he will baptize for large families to proclaim that we are all called to be open to LIFE!
He also invited The Community of the Lamb to come to the United States! In 2008 the Little Sisters came and started their first and only foundation in the heart of our country. Hallel then said "Yes" to her call to become a Little Sister! How grateful are we that time to time we can visit her and her family of the Lamb only 6 hours away from us here on the farm! Two in the womb now... prayers without ceasing for mothers and little precious lives in the womb!
